June 8, 201015 yr Some sceneries, like the one in the Loopy Larry mission, my FPS jumps from very high to very low making my simming very jumpy and weird. I don't know why as my computer can run FSX well in other places. Even in New York City I get decent FPS with ultra high settings so why do these places have Jumpy FPS? P.S. they are not low fps, they just jump from say 50 to 4 and this happens randomly in half a second intervals. Alfredo Terrero

June 8, 201015 yr Post your system spec and which videocard driver you are using. A bad driver is often the cause of highly fluctuating framerates.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
June 9, 201015 yr Author I'm doing this at the top of my head but I have a core 2 duo at 2.93 ghz, 8 gb ddr2 ram (can't remember MHz), ati mobility radeon 3650 with I think 512 VRAM, and 128 gb samsung ssd. As I said, fsx runs at decent frames with good graphics on my system only in some places like my loopy Larry mission do the frames jump from 100 to like 4 very frequently which makes the game jumpy (not necessarily low fps just jumpy). I'll get back on the video driver as I don't know it and am not home but I think I have the latest driver. Alfredo Terrero
June 10, 201015 yr Author Yes, I have the latest graphics driver that I can get. I saw another post which suggested setting the bufferpool in fsx.cfg to 0? Will this really help me? Alfredo Terrero

Lock your framerate in FSX (as mentioned above) to 30, or less2. Run the FPS Limiter (search in Google to locate) and set FSX to unlimited Bert

June 11, 201015 yr Author Okay, I downloaded the program fps limiter. I need help running it. When I open the executable, my frames stay at 30, but the exectuble opens a cmd windows and closes it in less than a second. I want to increase the fps of the limiter and have read you need to use the fps limiter gui.jar file to do so, but how do I open this file? Alfredo Terrero
June 11, 201015 yr You need to install java to run it: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jspLimiting frames ingame may hit performance so this external limiter allows a higher limit in most cases.I can see your GpU is an ATI, so try this in your FSX.cfg:[DISPLAY]ForceFullScreenVSync=1ForceWindowedVSync=1ForceVSync=1here's the vSync reference thread http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=283143&hl Okay, I downloaded the program fps limiter. June 11, 201015 yr Author Everyone thank you very much for your help. I have succesfully used FPSkimiter (I can't believe I forgot I had JAVA uninstalled). My problem is fixed, the only thing is that I didn't notice any difference with the VSync command. What exactly is it supposed to address? Thanks. Alfredo Terrero

P.S. they are not low fps, they just jump from say 50 to 4 and this happens randomly in half a second intervals. One possible cause of these sorts of problems is areas that have older scenery code in them. ie parts of the scenery may have been compiled using an FS2002 or FS2004 tool instead of the FSX tools. In the case of Loopy Larry the Oshkosh scenery uses the older FS9 type of photoreal scenery rather than the newer FSX type of photoreal and this may be the root cause of the jumpy framerates (notice how I say "may", you can never be certain what goes on inside FSX). Others have posted the solutions available.
June 12, 201015 yr Alfredo - Find out what the native resolution and refresh are for your particular monitor. Then ensure your desktop resolution and FSX resolution match and set the FPS limiter to 1/2 of the refresh and you should have optimal results. As for BP=0 you should do a little reading in that thread and don't forget there is a Bojote Shader mod thread located in this forum as well.Good luck, \Robert Hamlich/
