Digital Avation Cheyenne

Featured Replies

Has anybody tried the Digital Avation Cheyenne on a 64 bit OS? I switched to a W7 64 Bit OS and have had problems with aircrafts that use load managers or aircraft configuration changers. The model looks like a interesting piece of software and it is being offered at a reasonable price. I just want to make sure it will work or a system that is similair to mine before I purchase.ThanksTom

Works fine on my setup. Great plane.

It worked grand on my system (Windows 7, Home Premium, 64-bit) and I echo kdfw_'s remarks totally - a great plane to fly.

Thank you both for your replies.I have mixed feelings about the W7 64 OS. With the exception of their 727, all of the Dreamfleet aircraft that I have that used their GPS Trainer software will not work under a 64 bit OS. Their 727, all though still very flyable, will not sync up to their aircraft configuration software. Two Carenado aircraft, although they fly perfectly, are invisible in my file directories. All other loaded aircraft files are visible. Another problem that I have is that when I load RC4 it hangs my system and eventiually times out FS9. The Digital Avation Do-27 also flies well, but their aircraft configuration software only partionaly works. The DA forum states that Aerosoft is now the main provider for support, but in the original DA forum it contained a statement of which operating systems that they supported and W7 was not listed. Now for the other side of the equation. With the exception of the DF 727, I have only loaded by GA software packages to date. Frame rates and graphics are outstanding (even with a bunch of add-ons loaded). I use the average frame rate command in my FS9 config file to monitor my frame rates are always peged to its selected settings. The command line is: AVE_FRAME_RATE_DISPLAY=1When I have selected unlmited frame rates the numbers are huge. Thanks again for your inputs, I was just looking a couple of positive comments that the software would work under a 64 bit OS prior to purchasing the Cheyenne.Tom

I'm new to Windows 7 myself, having used XP for years. A new computer means a new OS however, so I'm probably going to run into issues at some point. To echo what you said about the aircraft working fine but the tools not, the Flight 1 ATR-72 installs like a charm and flies like a dream, but the configuration tools give me ActiveX errors and refuse to work. I too have the DO-27, but have not gotten around to re-installing it yet, so it's good to know I can expect problems.

Their (DF)727, all though still very flyable, will not sync up to their aircraft configuration software. Tom
I just wanted to point out that the DF727 Config. Manager and Text-o-Matic software works perfectly in windows 7, 64bit. It works great on my machine, but you have to follow some directions that are posted in the Df727 forum. -Robert

Robert,Thank you for the heads up on the DF727. My earlier stated problem with the Do-27 is minor. The configuration manager allows you to updated the quality of your aircraft textures. The minor problem is that under a 64 bit OS the aircraft are not shown in the texture selection area. If you have the powewr to run at a higher graphic resolution it would be a nice feature to have working.By the way, if you have a 4 1/2 year grandson, the Do-27 is the best aircraft in the fleet. He loves the overall sounds and aircraft vibrations of the software package.Tom

I had problems with the Config tool for the ATR, and all I did was run it in WinXP compatibility mode and it ran without a hitch. I have Win7 32bit on my system.

Gerry,Is this tool limited to the ATR aircraft or is a general purpose accross the board fix for Flight1 supported products? Also, do you know if the fix works in a 64 bit environment?ThanksTom

Gerry,Thanks! It appeared to work for the Dreamfleet 727, but it did not work for the D0-27. Again, the D0-27 issue is very minor and it only involves the upgrading of aircraft textures. Thanks again,Tom

This thread sparked my interest for this plane, so I want to look at some screenshots. It actually seems just right for those short flights that I'd like to do without the fuss of a jetliner. I might just buy this plane... Thanks, guys, for the interesting thread!

Benjamin,The Cheyenne, Do-27, and I believe the ATR models can be found at Aerosoft.com or at the flight1.com websites. They have a number of aircraft views included in their ads. The Dreamfleet 727 can be found at Dreamfleet.com, and they also screen shots available.Tom
