Not that I've come across although as an alternative Emirates (at least) have fitted their A380s with cameras on the nose and tailfin that you can watch via the seatback video screen. Resolution is a bit blurry but that just helps those of us still running FS on old & underpowered PCs feel right at home...

In some countries, including the UK, it is illegal to listen to such transmissions. Several spotters have been detained in Greece and India for this. Those arrested in Greece were convicted of a criminal offence.

Wow, any links? Was it just commercial or military traffic as well?

I think it was military in addition to civilian - that's why it was taken so seriously in Greece. As for links I can't remember any - the story is not recent.

Then what do they do about liveatc.net? I do believe in the US United is the last hold out airline that provides this service, and I believe it's at pilot's discretion. It used to be more prevalent in the airline industry, in fact American Airlines even had cockpit camera's. When it was shown though, that the Passenger's of the DC-10 that lost it's engine in Chicago AA 191 crash, probably saw and heard their final seconds on video, the public taste for this waned. Since then this service has become an endangered species. UA is the only one that I know of that still do this. Actually that was a few years ago, they may have stopped since.

Thanks

The spotters from the UK who got busted in Greece were at a hotel overlooking the airport they were listening to, and had lots of cameras and binoculars etc for viewing the airport, so it did appear a bit suspect to anyone who isn't familiar with the kind of paraphernalia which plane spotters tend to equip themselves, that incident was in 2001 and did involve military craft. More recently, two spotters got into trouble in India for doing a similar thing with civilian airliners. They were unaware at the time that what they were doing was illegal, and it was basically all a bit paranoid on the part of the authorities.Link to the more recent incident: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/...ian-prison.htmlWhilst it is indeed not permitted for people in the UK to listen to any ATC transmission which are not intended to be available to the general public without permission, in practice it is quite common for people to do so and there are rarely any attempts to stop it from being done. The UK authorities are well aware that, in almost all cases, it is simply aircraft enthusiasts doing what they have been doing for years. If you were sat outside Heathrow with an air band scanner and a rocket propelled grenade launcher, I daresay they might have something to say about it, but if you are very obviously not up to anything dodgy, you wouldn't be arrested. As a result, it is not illegal to buy the equipment with which to tune such transmissions in so long as they cannot transmit. You can in fact often buy such air band scanning equipment at shops in quite a few UK airports; even stuff that can pick up aircraft transponders and display a virtual radar screen on a PC are regularly advertised in UK aircraft enthusiast magazines.Al

In the UK it is illegal to own or operate a transceiver both airband or marine without a licence. If you are found with one and are unlicenced the CAA will throw the book at you and you will NEVER do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!vololiberista

Yup, that's correct for a transceiver, but not for not a scanner, which doesn't have any capability to transmit.Al

EGCC aviation park has a shop where you can buy scanners. There are loads of people standing around with theirs blasting out at times.
