Pull knob to turn it on, rotate left or right for volume adjustment, that goes for other idents too. :) Jay Vorkapic

June 30, 201015 yr ...emmm.... Can I have a short but simple explanation what it does and why I need it? sorry for offtopic! br,namejsEver noticed the Blue O or orange M flash on you PFD (in a coloured box) for a short time as you pass them during final approach or even departure, they are markers. O being Outer marker and M being Middle marker (there is a inner marker too). They are used for reference during approaches and you will often find altitude data related to them on approach charts so you can confirm you are on glide path as you pass them. They also give a aural broken tone which alerts the pilot when he has passed over it, if you have done a fair bit of FS flying before in various planes you have probably heard it many times. This thread is about setting the radio panel so you can hear it.wiki has some little illustrations and sound clipshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marker_beacon Jay Vorkapic
July 1, 201015 yr Thank You Jay for very good explanation! Sure I have seen those flashing markers. NOW I know what those are! :)It always come to one thing - RTFM! and better at least 3 times!

What else could i try? or am i missing something else. Have turned up the settings in FSX/PMDG for cockpit sounds to full but still no luck. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!

July 8, 201015 yr Jaff, thats all I do pull radio mkr and even in the default volume I can hear it just fine. Do you see the OM ad MM indications on the PFD even if you don't hear them? Have you clicked ILS1 and Radio marker? You need to click bothI don't have on the ILS one usually and I still get the marker sound. I will check next time. Jay Vorkapic
July 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member You could be right Jay, I have always clicked both but thinking about it maybe I only need to click ILS1/2 and Ident if I want to here the Morse identifier Rob Prest
July 8, 201015 yr You could be right Jay, I have always clicked both but thinking about it maybe I only need to click ILS1/2 and Ident if I want to here the Morse identifierYeah, on some occasions I want the ILS indent I pull it and press ident and get the morse identifier, then I usually turn off the ident button and push the ILS1/2 knob back in. I always pull the marker knob unless I forget (not uncommon :( ) Jay Vorkapic
July 8, 201015 yr If you see a marking symbol blinking on the PFD there should be sound if marker is enabled on the audio panel (no ILS needs be tuned), no blinking symbol means no sound. Dan Downs KCRP
July 12, 201015 yr Jaff, thats all I do pull radio mkr and even in the default volume I can hear it just fine. Do you see the OM ad MM indications on the PFD even if you don't hear them? Thanks for the reply. I do get OM and MM indications on the PFD but no sounds - even after turning them up as suggested. Bit weird, will continue to fiddle around with them. Jeff Blyth MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!
