Cost for NAVDATA?

Featured Replies

This may be a dumb question, but when someone buys a PMDG product with an FMS (like the 737-600/700), do we have to pay for the NAVDATA that goes into the FMS?

Yes.

Alright and how much is that usually?

I don't think it's advertising (because PMDG is referring to this site in their movies), so go to Navigraph website, buy some credits and download navdata :)EDIT:For example:

Ahh I get it. Thank you :(

I highly recommend Navigraph's FMC AIRAC updates. However, keep in mind, that these updates to not update the AFCADs of the airports in FSX, so your FMS will refer to modern runways, which may not be updated as so in your sim (such as Runway 10 at KORD).

True, and here You will find AIRAC update for FSX, it's out of date, but it's better than nothing :)

Hello Randall, I might be jumping to conclusions, but due to the tone of your post i feel you have not been flying very long and if so, the point made by Scott Kalin in his post is very relevent and worth bearing in mind. You can prove me wrong if you enlighten us as to how long you have been using FS9 so that if necessary we can provide further info. richard welsh

Hi Richard, I've been simming for quite a few years now, and have vast VA experience, just not with payware. I am an ex-Chief Pilot of American Flight Airways, and I currently fly for them, FedEx VAC, and Southwest. I am also an avid 707 Buff. I just don't know much about this FMC stuff...

If you are unfamiliar with the FMC, why not pick up PMDG's 737 for FS9 if you still fly it and start using the FMC in it to get an idea of using it. The manual that comes with the bird helps out quite a bit and once you understand it, you should be able to take that knowledge into the FSX version.

I'd recommend the 747 for that actually, it's FMC is a much more robust version than what was in the old NG product. Much better VNAV, better LNAV pathing, support for VNAV in the approach phase etc. The NGX should eclipse everything we've done though if you're willing to wait a bit more.

You mean it'll accept those very few 4 letter waypoints that none of the fms's does at present?John Ellison

What are those exactly?Any waypoints that don't show up are a function of the database, not the FMS itself.

all replies were correct so far but refer only to NAVDATA updates. Means that especially PMDG aircraft are delivered with NAVDATA out of the box. So, you are able to fly straight away but have to buy updates from third party vendors if you want to keep the NAVDATA up to date. So you do not really HAVE to pay for Navdata unless you want to have the latest version. but somehow I feel that is exactly what you want :( Phil
