August 10, 201015 yr I think it's about time some respected payware developer started a new ATR project. F1 ATR was really great but it has currently too many annoying bugs in its FSX port. I just love the way the F1 ATR flies. IMHO, it has the best "feel of being in the air" in it than I get from any other payware plane (yes, including those from PMDG, LDS, feelThere etc.). Just to make sure, I'm not talking about systems modelling, I'm just talking about the feel of actually flying. But all good things eventually come to an end. It seems to me that F1's ATR is there now. It served us great but a completely new native FSX version is needed badly.So... Mayby some aircraft addon company reading this forum sees this and gets a spark from it... :) I can only hope (while not holding my breath)...Btw, anyone else interested in a new native FSX ATR? :)
August 10, 201015 yr Btw, anyone else interested in a new native FSX ATR? :)I am, yallu. Totally agree with your sentiments--the market seems to be saturated with multiple good or excellent P51s, Spitfires, Cessnas, etc. What we really need is a good, up to date, FSX-native ATR. The F1 ATR looks excellent and is well regarded, but I will not purchase an FS9 port over. I think an FSX-native ATR would generate a great deal of interest - I would be the first in line with my credit card.Major V
August 10, 201015 yr I don't have it but if you're looking for another great native twin to replace it you should try the PMDG J41:http://precisionmanuals.com/pages/product/js4100.html | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 10, 201015 yr Btw, anyone else interested in a new native FSX ATR? :)Many times yes! The ATR was one of my favorite FS9 planes, but it could do with a refresh that makes use of the new FSX features. It's a bit tiring hearing of a developer coming out with another Airbus or Boeing that's been done before at the expense of planes like the ATR. Alan F ----- Win7 x64, ASUS P6X58D Premium, Intel i7-960 3.2 GHz, Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770 1GB, Mushkin Blackline DDR3 3x2GB I get > 20 FPS @ Ultra High or better everything until I come across addon scenery. -----
August 10, 201015 yr I agree. Although the J41 sounds great, it isn't widely used in the US today. An FSX ATR or Dash-8 would be a great addition to our payware lineup. My reasoning for not buying the J41:I usually fly current airlines and realistic routes. The J41 doesn't operate many of the routes I fly so I won't fly it often.Since it has a steep learning curve, I will need a refresher with the manual every time I fly it.Because I will need a refresher course, I will probably fly something else that I can get in the air quicker. The result would be that I would never fly the J41. Nonetheless, it does look like a beautiful aircraft. August 10, 201015 yr Moderator I agree. Although the J41 sounds great, it isn't widely used in the US today. An FSX ATR or Dash-8 would be a great addition to our payware lineup.PMDG already has plans for the Dash-8 once the NGX is done. They will be working on their 777 and Dash-8 then. However, you will probably need a refresher course every time you fly it because it will probably be more complex than the J-41.On a side note I also would to see someone do a new ATR since the FSX port doesn't perform well on my system, plus the VC is way to dated. Although I have a feeling one I get the NGX I will probably forget about any other airliner. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 10, 201015 yr Why not an ATR42 this time or a Dornier 328 (turboprop)?Real Deraps (Lmaire) Real Deraps
August 11, 201015 yr Author There's also the upcoming 600 variant with glass cockpit. Though I have to say I personally don't prefer glass cockpits... :)
