Does Orbx scenery work in FS2004?

Featured Replies

Hello,AFAIK any scenery designed for FSX will not work in FS2004Regards.bye.gifGus.

The question was about FS2004 sceneries, not FSX.A couple of years ago before the fullterrain/orbx existed, the same team designed a freeware scenery called Vista Australis for FS2004, which covered basically all of Australia, fullterrain style. That's why the link is on the FS2004 freeware list, but it's now obviously outdated as it points to fullterrain. I don't know if the original free FS2004 scenery can be downloaded anywhere.

Thanks guys.

VOZ is great, no doubt, but remember, Joseph, it will change your global ground textures when applied. So you may want to make a backup before.Plus you can only have one texture set, which makes it even hard to fly within Australia (you'll see the textures you had on departure, e.g. for Queensland).

VOZ includes a switcher app that changes the textures at the push of a button, so when flying outside of Australia you can easily revert back to your original textures.I use their textures in other parts of the world also, because they are more appealing than the default. The downside is you cannot run the switcher with FS running. So if you want to fly from one region to another you have to shut the sim down mid-flight.I find the best way to do this is pause the sim, and press Ctrl+C to close the sim. Then switch texture sets (2 mouse clicks) and restart the sim by opening the folder that FS saves your flights in, My Documents\Flight Simulator Files, and double-click on Previous flight.FLT. I keep a desktop shortcut to that file. This will load the sim right where you left off, un-pause and your off and flying with new ground textures. In all honesty, I think this is a creative way to deal with the limitations Microsoft built into FS, using the same textures throughout the world.VOZ is, in my opinion, one of the greatest freeware addons FS9 has ever seen.regards,Joe

The Vista Australis scenery is an FS2004-only scenery, whilst the ORBX sceneries are the ones bulit today, and are for FSX only. Dave
