Guest 413X3

does the beacon reflect in the virtual cockpit at night or any other issues? Thanks for doing this. Will try it out.

It seems that I can never stop that from happening very well. I did move the starboard landing light light a bit more forward than the port side, because of the radar pod. I like Carenado's VC lights on this one so I left them. The ice light on the port wing and the cabin entry lights on the undersides of the wings are built into the model and are also very nice. The landing and taxi lights are too.

Not a problem David, and thanks!
Appreciate this, thanks. It's one of the more teeth gnashing jobs in FSX!

Hey guys,If you look in the fsx/effects folder you will see fx_shockwave_beaconb_nl.fx.the _nl version is the No Light one which means it doesnt cast light in the VC.Thanks for doing the list for the caravan.CheersTrev.

Hello!

May I ask if I'm understand right this config? Here is what I have onto Aircraft.cfg:

[Lights] 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=Taxi, 7=Recognition, 8=Wing, 9=Logo, 10=Cabin

//Types:

light.0 = 3, -17.48, -26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_navredlight

light.1 = 3, -17.75, 26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_navgrelight

light.2 = 3, -43.87, 0.12, 1.74, fx_shockwave_navwhilight

light.3 = 2, -17.70, -26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_strobe_2light

light.4 = 2, -17.97, 26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_strobe_3light

light.5 = 1, -41.75, 0.00, 10.45, fx_shockwave_beaconhlight

light.6 = 9, -11.61, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardoselight

light.7 = 10, -12.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1light

light.8 = 10, -15.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1light

light.9 = 10, -20.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1light

light.10 = 10, -25.91, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1light

light.11 = 10, -11.81, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardose2light

light.12 = 6, -15.80, -17.55, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_smalllight

light.13 = 6, -15.80, 17.55, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_smalllight

light.14 = 5, -15.80, -17.00, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_lightlight

light.15 = 5, -15.80, 17.00, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_lightlight

light.16 = 5, -2.00, -19.00, 1.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light_smlight

light.17 = 5, -0.50, 19.00, 1.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light_sm

I ask because I can see only a landing lights. Should I put some line to panel.cfg under [VirtualCockpit]?

Hi Rolf

You are correct, you need to add the following to the [Vcockpit01] section of the 208’s Panel.cfg file using notepad or similar…

gauge12=Shockwave_Lights!SW Lights, 484,497,20,12

Now the gauge number should be 12 as shown, but just in case you have anything else added to the [Vcockpit01] section just make this gauge the last one and change the number to suit.

I hope it helps.

Well...

I made a test with RealAir Duke and found the same problem. Mayby I meshed something as I tryed DX10 a few weeks ago. I made some configuration for lights because they don't work very well during night so I returned back to DX9.

I must hunting my backup files if I'll find some missing textures or something else...

Rolf

OK - SW Lights work with Duke but no Caravan. I reloaded SW Lights and reinstalled it. I realeased that I used an older version of Shockwave Lights but, but...

Hi Rolf

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the Shockwave lights, I did notice though that you had double entries for the landing and taxi lights, which while it should not matter has put you over the limit for the number of light entries which from memory is sixteen, but all that should happen in that case is that the last two of the lights will not show.

As for the textures for the Shockwave lights the bitmaps you are looking for are as follows..

Fx_2.bmp

Fx_Circle.bmp

Fx_Circle_2.bmp

Fx_shockwave_circle.bmp

Fx_shockwave_light.bmp

On the panel.cfg entry the reason for the none standard entry of ….

gauge11=Shockwave_Lights!SW Lights, 484,497,20,12

Is that I do not like to place one gauge on top of another and prefer to use an empty part of the [Vcockpit01] when adding invisible gauges such as this one, it is just a habit from making panels that’s all.

Anyway here is the [Lights] entry that I use for the C208…

[Lights]

// types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=Taxi, 7=Recognition, 8=Wing, 9=Logo, 10=Cabin

//light.0 = 3, -17.48, -26.30, 3.92, fx_navredcardose

//light.1 = 3, -17.75, 26.30, 3.92, fx_navgrecardose

//light.2 = 3, -43.87, 0.12, 1.74, fx_navwhicardose

//light.3 = 2, -17.70, -26.30, 3.92, fx_strobecardose

//light.4 = 2, -17.97, 26.30, 3.92, fx_strobecardose

//light.5 = 1, -41.75, 0.00, 10.45, fx_beaconcardose

//light.6 = 9, -11.61, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardose

//light.7 = 10, -12.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

//light.8 = 10, -15.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

//light.9 = 10, -20.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

//light.10 = 10, -25.91, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

//light.11 = 10, -11.81, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardose2

light.0 = 3, -17.48, -26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_navred

light.1 = 3, -17.75, 26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_navgre

light.2 = 3, -43.87, 0.12, 1.74, fx_shockwave_navwhi

light.3 = 2, -17.70, -26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_strobe_2

light.4 = 2, -17.97, 26.30, 3.92, fx_shockwave_strobe_3

light.5 = 1, -41.75, 0.00, 10.45, fx_beaconcardose

light.6 = 9, -11.61, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardose

light.7 = 10, -12.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

light.8 = 10, -15.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

light.9 = 10, -20.61, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

light.10 = 10, -25.91, 0.00, 2.10, fx_vclightcardose1

light.11 = 10, -11.81, 0.00, 0.98, fx_vclightcardose2

light.12 = 6, -15.80, -17.55, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old

light.13 = 6, -15.80, 17.55, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old

light.14 = 5, -15.80, -17.00, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old

light.15 = 5, -15.80, 17.00, 3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_old

The first eleven entries with the // in front of them are the default Carenado entries, I just find it easier not to delete them just in case things go pear shaped, again it is just habit.

As for the panel.cfg entry you can use the….

gauge10=Shockwave_Lights!SW Lights, 484,497,20,12

or the

gauge10=Shockwave_Lights!SW Lights, 1,1,1,1

entry, either one will work, again it is just a habit from over the years that has stuck with me.

Now as to using DirectX10 and could it have any side effect on your Shockwave lights well first of all I don’t actually use it but if you have not added any texture files then just switching DirectX10 Preview on and off will not change any files just the way they are displayed, one thing that could change them however is if you have any add-on programs like ActiveSky or REX but as you have not allowed those programs to alter you aircraft lights I think we can dismiss that one as the problem, but then again nothing would surprise me with computers.

Let me know how you get on as I am sure we can get to the bottom of this one between us all.

Hello Jim!

Thank You very, very much for Yours help! I was pretty sure that I was made some mistake during configuration of the SW Lights. Now the lights are as they should be on out side. I'm not sure (I'm not tesred it today, yet) but I remember that I have seen some pictures taken from Cockpit and there was very good looking Gauge lights but what I know the Caravan's has only one switch and it's Panel light? Panel lights is too bright during night so that why I ask if this is some solution.

Ok - I understand if I want too much at one time but it would be very nice to get Caravan tuned as much as possible. I found a one solution about how to get Reality XP's working with this bird so it's will be a next step on my tuning list. This is very good forum - thank You!

BTW - this is what works perfect if sonebody else found the same problem:

Hi Rolf

That’s great news that you managed to get the lights up and running, as for the gauge lighting I do seem to remember something along those lines being posted so it may be worth a trawl through the forum, I know that I did a black panel mod for the C208 and some gauge lighting for the 185F and that Bert Pieke did a great job of the 337 panel, so there is a better than average chance that the C208 received similar treatment at sometime.

But the main thing is that you have rectified the lighting issue and can take her for a spin with your new lights added.

Thank you for the generous comments and for the feedback I really do appreciate them both.

Take care, and have fun.

Hi Rolf

My apologies for the delay in replying but I was out most of yesterday, sorry about that.

As for the gauge lighting, now I can’t promise anything at this stage as I have not looked too far into it, but let me see if I can come up with something for you to make the gauges a bit better.

As I say I can’t promise anything as yet but I will try to figure something out for you.

Take care and have fun,
