Pre-purchase question

Hi,I am considering buying the LDS 767 for FSX, but have heard there may be some bugs when used in the Acceleration pack. I have FSX with Acceleration + Win. 7 32. Would anybody be able to enlighten me to these bugs and to their cures if available?Cheers,Craig Tatley

Yes, Craig. All information regarding the Level-D 767 for FSX is available at the OFFICIAL forum in the link below...

Hi Daryl,Re above quote " . . . All information regarding the Level-D 767 for FSX is available at the OFFICIAL forum in the link below... ". Well not quite 'all' info despite the fact that the post provides very valuable information. Here's an excerpt of that post: ". . . 3. If you have chosen to run the FSX & FSX-SP1 & XPACK installation, note that there are several 767 systems "anomalies" or "bugs" that are present in the FSX-XPACK (Acceleration). No timeline for a fix is available. If you are willing to live with the 767-XPACK workarounds... Install the 767-SP2a."I too have FSX Acceleration and seriously considering the purchase of your Level D 767 but only if I could find out what the anomalies or bugs are and what the workarounds are! I'm having one heck of a time trying to find that information which I believe should be easily available to prospective buyers in order that our purchase is based on an 'informed decision'.Is the information anywhere to be found?Regards,Jean-Jacques

Offering the workarounds in the General Forum would defeat the purpose of a Licensed Members Forum.Pertinent pre-purchase information regarding the 767 for FSX is to be found in the General Forum at http://www.leveldsim.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=15825Flight1 also offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

Hi Daryl,Thanks for your prompt response. The link you provided is the same that was provided to the gentleman (Craig) who asked the same question. So I’m no further ahead.I appreciate that you are bound by Flight One’s policy but the statement " . . . If you are willing to live with the 767-XPACK workarounds . . . Install the 767-SP2a " begs the following obvious question: How can a potential buyer know whether her or she can ‘live’ with the 767-XPACK workarounds if the person is unable to find out what they are?I support Flight One’s policy to restrict technical support to Licensed Members but to apply such a policy to an extent that prevents a potential buyer from being informed about ‘known’ bugs and their workarounds is, I believe, unacceptable. Therefore, based on Flight One‘s position represented here and this despite its excellent money back guarantee, I have abandoned my purchase intention.Regards,Jean-Jacques

>I wrote Offering the workarounds in the General Forum would defeat the purpose of a Licensed Members Forum. The support policy is the company policy. My question: why post here when the Level-D Forum is available? Is it really that onerous to go to another forum?

The engines wont start on the first attempt, you need to let the ingition sequence continue and on the second spool up the engine will start and run properly, but when the first attempt fails, it will blow out your performance settings in the FMS, and you must re-enter or delay entering that information upon the engine start. There is also a CTD attached to the GRD CALL button that the HIGHMEMFIX tweak helps with but does not eliminate 100%.

That behaviour stinks of censorship...I am disgusted. So, how would you deal with an official review of the product mentioning the same issue?Andrew

I am a long-time lurker and very infrequent poster on the AVSIM forums but from time to time wander through this particular sub-forum cannot believe that it continues the way it does. If I may, Mr. Shuttleworth, quote from the forum frontpiece:-"This forum is established for owners to share hints and help and for non-owners to ask questions of the owners on performance, techniques and guidance."I believe that the official Level-D forum caters for the first part, so the original posters question, IMHO, would be permitted as outlined under the second part of the above sentence. So what was the point in the standard "see the official forum etc..." reply, and then to add the crass action of revoking access to the Level-D forums to a Level-D sim member?I am also a Level-D 767 owner, and member of the Level-D forums, by the way, and support fully any action against piracy or the questions that arise from obvious "rogue" LDS767 owners, but quite frankly the continual mantra offered by Mr. Shuttleworth should result in the closing of ths particular forum.Tim Evans

Well, I cannot say I am surprised. At least you have lived up to your reputation, which you have so sincerely earned. Not to mention I am sure what you have done has violated my purchase agreement. Here is a hint for you, if you dont want people to stay away from your ONE product because of bugs, then fix them in a patch, not suppress the knowledge of their existance. And for the record, I still enjoy flying your plane, will keep on enjoying it, have never told anyone to NOT buy your plane, only that they should expect to recieve total crap support (from you in particular), and I think you have provided the prima facia required to justify that claim.

Hello Scott,My sincere thanks for taking the time to provide me with the kind of information I was seeking. My understanding of the ultimate reason for establishing forums, simply put, is to provide flight simmers with an avenue for the exchange of information. You have clearly demonstrated that you understand that concept.Best personal regards,Jean-Jacques

The concept clearly NOT UNDERSTOOD is that commercial software (and support) is not free.

Daryl,For goodness sake, will you please re-read the clearly published description of this unofficial forum and especially the part that I've underlined: "Do you own the Level D 767 add-on for FS9? Do you own the Wilco published 767PIC add-on? This is an UNOFFICIAL forum for both. Please do not expect the publishers to assist you here. This forum is established for owners to share hints and help and for non-owners to ask questions of the owners on performance, techniques and guidance."The underlined portion is an invitation to me and other non-owners to ask questions. Otherwise, I would not have asked in this forum. Jean-Jacques

Jean-Jacques,For goodness sake, where does it state ANYWHERE in what you have quoted that non-owners can choose this forum rather than going to official forum to receive support information?
