September 14, 201015 yr I just completed a test with th FSX Booster. I've measured average fps (Yes, I know - fps is not a good measure with FSX) and smoothness during three different flight scenarios. I'm using UT2 for AI traffic. I've tweaked my system and FSX and I'm satisfied with the good IQ, smooth flights and decent fps.My fsx config tweaks are:TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=80TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 (I use REX HD textures)HIGHMEMFIX=1 (which isn't a tweak but a way to avoid texture problems with heavy duty add-ons)Poolsize=150000000Normally I lock fps at 27 or 30, but for this test I used unlimited fps. I had UT2 AI traffic at 100%.I used three different scenarios (a flight over Vancouver - PNW, a fligh through a deep valley near Vancouver with a lot of trees on the mountain slopes and finally a flight over London city) and compared fps, IQ and smoothness. My findings: I must say that I couldn't notice much difference regarding fps. Average fps pretty much the same. Could vary a couple of fps in either way, at most with 5 - 7%. 40 fps without FSX Booster and 38 with. And during another test scenario the other way round. Not any consistent improvement of average fps. I couldn't notice any difference regarding IQ. Smoothness pretty much the same, but I felt that panning in spot view was a a little bit smoother over Vancouver (remember 100% AI traffic) without FSX Booster. But that might just be imagination. Conclusion: This is not a utility for me.Thanks to FSPS team for their effort to provide a new version of the program for my test :( It would be nice if more simmers could test this utility. Maybe it's a good solution for anyone having problem to get the tweaks applied correctly on their systems. I don't know :(

As I already mentioned, FSX Booster sets the documented and undocumented tweaks with values that calculated from your pc hardware.1.) If someone has bad tweak values, or even no tweaks, then he will see a very big difference.2.) If someone have tweaked his fsx.cfg very well, then probably the calculated values of the tweaks will be approximatelly the same but in any case the fsp will not be worst. It will be the same or a little bit better.
September 14, 201015 yr Commercial Member Just tried to install it.The first time I clicked the exe file I got a message that some dll was missing.Than I tried a second time and got the message that there were no executions left..... :mellow:This was with the downloadlink posted above. Then I downloaded the program from their site and was able to install it.However it immediately asked for a serial. So at the end : nothing You must use the installer. Not the replaced exe file.
September 14, 201015 yr You must use the installer. Not the replaced exe file.As I described I downloaded the installer but it immediately wanted the serial.Perhaps because I first tried to use the exe file.Anyway nothing can be done to test it, so I will delete it. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
September 14, 201015 yr No offence intended, and I am not complaining, but is this, the primary AVSIM FSX forum, the proper place for what obviously seems like a private commercial addon promotional and support thread? It reads more like a customer hotline. Isn't there a better AVSIM venue for when this sort of thing goes this far? Just my considered opinion, but the thread seems a wee bit out of place at this point.Kind regards,

September 22, 201015 yr I fully support SpiritFlyer's notion about this thread and forum being no advertising platform. For me, it's a big difference if some user posts about product updates or if a commercial member does this for his own (in my eyes disputable) products.
September 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member Tried the Demo and:- Set to run with admin rights and in XP compatibility mode, as instructed, since I'm running Vista 64.- Demo doesn't work, on the first launch it shows that I've have "N/A" days left (isn't supposed to run for a day ?) and 0 uses left, even if I never used it...- Pressing the Countinue button, will say "Serial Number Missing or invalid", so, there's no other option other than quitting.- After launching the non-working demo once, even if it didn't progressed after the serial activation stage, it still managed to destroy my FSX.CFG. Went into the %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX and found an Originalfsxbackup.cfg, with 0 BYTES length. Fortunately, I had another recent backup...A suggestion:Since your program needs admin rights to run and it's made in .NET, there's an easy way to set it to automatically get the "Shield" icon so, it will always run with admin rights, without you having to explain it to users. It's done this way:On your developement machine, create a file named temp.manifest that contains the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><asmv1:assembly manifestVersion="1.0" xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" xmlns:asmv1="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" xmlns:asmv2="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="requireAdministrator"/> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo></asmv1:assembly> Put it in the same folder together with your .EXE file and use the MT.EXE utility from Visual Studio to do the following: mt -manifest temp.manifest -outputresource:YOUREXE.EXE;#1 This will embed the above manifest file as a resource in your executable, thst will now show the shield and will always run in admin mode. You don't need to distribute the temp.manifest file with the app, just the .EXE Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
September 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member The download was broken somwhow. Upload again. You can run the installer and repair it. September 27, 201015 yr Hi,I used the latest version which offers the ability to save changes from FSX while Booster is running. Also the frames was even better
September 27, 201015 yr Commercial Member The download was broken somwhow. Upload again. You can run the installer and repair it.Tried again the latest download and yes, it doesn't at least remove the FSX.CFG file anymore, and I see you used my suggestion to use a manifest file to flag it as requiring admin access, which is good. However, the Trial still doesn't work, it shows me "Days N/A" and "Uses 0", and it says "Serial Number missing or Invalid" when I press the "Continue" button. That can't be right, since I've installed it for the first time on September 23th, and never managed to run it successfully not even once time. If you have used it then it will not allow any extra times. But, drop us an email at [email protected] to send you an extra two shots to try it out.Regards,FSPS Support Team
September 27, 201015 yr Commercial Member Thats correct. If you have used it then it will not allow any extra times. ??? Do you mean the single time I've lauched it, and got my FSX.CFG deleted, counted as an usage, even if it never progressed after the first screen ?But, drop us an email at [email protected] to send you an extra two shots to try it out.Never mind, I was just curious to see how it worked on my machine, which is a little bit different than what many users have (MacPro Dual Xeon with 8 real cores or 16 in HT).You really need to improve your Trial method, as it is now, it doesn't work, and doesn't have much sense for you either, if you have to add additional trial time manually via email to those that ask for it, just to fix the fact you had a bugged version on download.
