FSX Boost

If I were you I would ditch FSX Booster. To get your CFG back delete your current cfg the relaunch FSX and it should make a clean fresh CFG. I seriously doubt that FSX booster can do anything over a PROPERLY setup system/OS along with properly tuning FSX to your hardware.Jim
Yep, removed the other (blank) FSX.cfg, restarted FSX, and repaired the newly generated one with my hand-tweaks from my backup. Back to normal.

Edited to correct the name of the product which is FSX Booster and not FSX Boost.Noticed a new product called FSX Boost has been released that is said to help you analyze your computer and make sure you get the best possible experience in FSX that your hardware will allow by modifying known and unknown FSX tweaks and settings. Sounds almost too good to be true...Anyone tried it out yet?
I'm pretty sure I have the best performance possible on this platform, with this defined as smoothness + IQ at decent frame rates. Smoothness and IQ peaked after applying Bejote's tweaks, and now I have best ever perf and there is clearly no need to upgrade, still!Noel

I can relate to what you say, I'm also very happy with my current performance and would like to think there's little if anything left that could be done to further improve my current performance. Personally I found lots of good advice following Nick Needham's guides both when it comes to the choice of hardware but also FSX settings and tuning.Guess it has by now been discovered that this new product indeed seem to be just what I suspected when starting this thread...too good to be true :(

Hi,After the release of version 1.1.3.0 and later, we recieve a lot of emails from clients and also from people who tried the demo, reporting frame rates increase between 40% to 90%.We would like to thanks them all for their patience. You can always try the demo from the bellow addresshttp://fsps.737ng.gr/Booster.htmlRegards,FSPS Support team

Hello FSPS Support team!I just tried the FSX Booster in demo mode. Got an error message when I started the program (see attached image). Maybe caused by my regional settings (decimal charachter is comma (,) and not a point(.) - I don't know.I benchmarked FSX with two flights and got the same average fps as on previous benchmark sessions. But I guess that the program didn't work OK.It would be nice with a 90% performance boost on my system Big%20Grin.gif Let me know when FSPS Development team have released a fix and I'll give it another try. And you could pass on to the team to use Try-Catch to avoid unhandled errors in .NET based programs. EDITED: I have these lines at the beginning of the fsx.cfg file:

//------------------------------------------------//[JOBSCHEDULER]//AffinityMas
k=3
//AffinityMask=1

Looks like the program doesn't skip lines beginning with a double slash.

Nop. This is not a problem. But it is related with double // same line

I have spent so much time getting my system perfect for me that the ONLY way I will even think about trying it is if I start to see some of the seasoned veterans around here (not a newbie with 3 posts) see a benefit to it. Anybody want to buy a bridge? :(
ThIS IS A EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!! Good post, I was gonna say the same thing. I'm very open to new addons but I'd first have to have some of the more experienced guys use it and tell me that it did something that they either had not thought of or didn't know worked. I'll continue to read this thread to see where it goes. I must say that in my FSX experience NOT ONE developer has ever sold me a product , its been the consumers reviews that made me buy it.

Reading such statements together with the (in my eyes) pure marketing phrases in the product description reminds me of all the other wonder products that gain performance "with just a click". They target the unexperienced and maybe somehow naive customer and sometimes hit.Those multi core products where the beginning and it seems that this software isn't the end. Looking at the prices, the ascent is remarkable.I don't know if I'm right about your software, maybe I judge too hard or I'm completely wrong, but I'm glad to see various AVSIM users raise their eyebrows too if reading about such performance gains.Maybe if somebody mixes up sliders completely and has no idea of what he's doing there, a cleaned up fsx.cfg might help and therefor might raise performance in such dramatic rates, but this can be done manually and for free.In the other 95% of cases freeware tools or just a few minutes reading on AVSIM would be the better investment and establishes some knowledge too.I really appreciate the demo option, but I doubt that one run (which can't be continued) really offers a fair chance to decide about purchasing or not.Speaking about the emails you mentioned: No other tenor so far? Just looking into the forums shows a different view and "no gain" or even "having problems now" isn't that rare in my eyes. This differs a bit from the email statement above and also from the product description.Again: In my eyes a very vague approach on gaining some frames.Glad to have open forums and marked commercial members there. Thumbsup on AVSIM.

if you have a system that gives you satisfactory performance then stay with what you have. If you like to tweak more than you fly stay with what you're doing. On the other hand, if you want to fly and things aren't working for you, how can this hurt. Most of us have $1000's in our systems and add ons and will go out and buy a $400 video card for a try at a little better performance but now we want to dis a new approach. If my system wern't performing as I wanted you bet I'd try this.I agree with Capt Mike; I used fs-gs to spec my system and to tune it so I'm happy with what I have but I'd sure try this if I wasn't. Also, quit chasing FPS. What you shoud be looking for is smooth performance, turn the fps counter off and enjoy flying the simulator.

This fixed also.

That's excellent!Just let me know when the installer for the new version is available and I'll make a new test on my system.

So, basically it sets your sliders and puts in FSX.cfg some known tweaks (affinity mask, TBM,..)? I don't think they know more than NickN or Bojote or the whole FSX community.

No, it does not set your sliders.It adds documented and undocumented tweaks with values that being calculated based of your hardware

Thanks! :( I'll do some testing and report back.

Just tried to install it.The first time I clicked the exe file I got a message that some dll was missing.Than I tried a second time and got the message that there were no executions left..... :mellow:This was with the downloadlink posted above.Then I downloaded the program from their site and was able to install it.However it immediately asked for a serial.So at the end : nothing :(
