My E8400 overclocks extremely well. I'm running it at 3.6Ghz and it stays at around 40C under full FS load. I'm sure it can go faster but I am not going to push my motherboard past 1600mhz.

+1 for the E8400 it'll overclock to 3.6ghz on minimum voltages. I'm still pushing mine further to see how far it'll go on low voltage and low temperatures. Also, don't try to save money by buying a Q8400 it's not at all close to an E8400 if you want a socket 775 quad core the Q9X50 series is the only way to go

I'm a fan of the Core 2 Duo as well. Bought an E8600 and found out I could have gotten along quite well on a more affordable E8400/8500. While, I'm holding back those tears, I remind myself that I'm overclocked at 4.2GHz on air without a care in the world... :(

My E8400 is running stable at 3.9 with just a small voltage bump. I did upgrade to an aftermarket cooler (Zalman 9700) just to be safe though. Temps never go over 42c at full throttle. Idle is between 30 and 32. Maurice

I'm going so far with the E8400 I just cant afford to go with anything else right now. was trying to go, at least for in I5. but I just cant do it yet. with the current cpu I have the celeron E3300 overclocked do not confuse the new celeron's with the old one! lol there not the same chip it is a very good chip considering its price bad thing about is the low l2 cache. but I need more power. :(

+1 for the E8400, running at stock speed here and FS9 already runs like a charm.

Mike...

An E8600 overclocked to 4.0, running fine!
