Gents-Will the PMDG 747-400 get an all-over rebuild? Absolutely...When? Stay tuned.
Dear Robert -I'm very happy to read thisGreat !!
Just want to reply and say that we do NOT consider the 747 to be a product that's lacking in the systems simulation department, unlike parts of the old NG. The 747 is significantly more developed, particularly in the VNAV and really deep failure modelling, system interdependencies etc. The 747 received several service packs that added a lot of functionality too, we did more modelling stuff when the 400X was developed and then patched those features into the FS9 version too. We still think it's the best simulation of the 400 there is and aside from the fact that it's showing it's age graphically a bit, there's nothing we're unhappy with in it as far as the actual systems go. Can we make it better? Of course, and we will when we make the new one, but it should not be lumped in with the old NG.
I'm very well aware of this, also.Sam

Is there a difference between the 747-400 and the 747-400X? Also I would think an update for the 747 would be exellent. All the other pmdg look awesome but leaves out the 747. I would love pmdg to make the 747 as good as the ngx. Its my dream right now.

I would love to see one. When I get the 737 it might make me stop using the pmdg 747. I would not like that so, yes I would love to see a huge update in the 747. Thanks

The 747X is for FSX, regular is for FS9. The same for the 737 NGX.
