October 6, 201015 yr Version 1.21 is out and is better to my mind than 1.20. Specifically, the speeds on descent (my pet peeve) seem more reasonable without subjecting passengers to the disconcerting rumble of speedbrakes all the way down. I even got within 10 kts of 250, although it would be nice if it respected the 250 limit automatically. I did not experience any weird "bump" or "nose dive" at 100 on landing.I cannot get an automagical descent at TD on a regular bases, despite doing everything the same (managed mode -- i.e. knobs pushed in, lower altitude dialed in) but I am not yet familiar enough to guarantee I'm not missing something. So looks like I'll keep and fly the Airbus X for exactly those times Aerosoft anticipated -- after work when you don't feel like making a major production of out if,.
October 6, 201015 yr Say Tim, if you change the cruise flight level does it recalculate TOD correctly? - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
October 8, 201015 yr Author Say Tim, if you change the cruise flight level does it recalculate TOD correctly?I just did an experiment, adding 10,000 feet. The TD was recalculated significantly further away from the destination than before,
October 8, 201015 yr Bit off topic I know but I posted in the Aerosoft forum and am not getting much help.Thought you may have an idea Tim or anyone else.I have thew Airbus X and am having issues with climbingDuring managed climb once over 10000 feet it still does not go above a speed of 250 . It also climbs at around 800ft which makes for a really slow ascent. (it just feels like the thing should be climbing faster !!)Then when it gets to the top of the climb it does not speed up either it stays at a speed of less than 250KIAS , I have to overide AP to get it to speed up.I am setting up the FMS as per the guide. Is the cost index to blame? I have been entering 80?Any suggestions appreciated.LazI am running v1.21 Keithy George
October 8, 201015 yr Author It is on your end because I climb nicely at 250 until 10,000 when I climb just under 300. I do tend to do shorter flights, so I am not burdened with a lot of fuel. A cost index of 80 should be fine. I know I have committed silly mistakes in the past like forgetting to retract the flaps or something then wondering why my climb is off. Maybe you could post a screen shot showing how everything's set up when you're having your problems. Good luck. There's a little less hate in my love-hate relationship with this airplane for me.
October 8, 201015 yr Laz - Something is not right, possibly in your setup. I would suggest completely uninstalling the bus and manually making sure all files have been removed. Then reboot PC and reinstall the airbus. I do not have this issue.I know Finn stated the cost index functionalition in the MCDU is not modeled.Bob

October 8, 201015 yr As others have said, the cost index is not modeled AFAIK. When you do your setup of the FMS, i.e. enter your altitude etc., pull the speed button and make sure it shows 250, then press it again to make sure it is in managed mode - makes sure all of the FMS is in managed mode. Also check that you have a "dark" overhead, no buttons OFF. Scott
October 8, 201015 yr Author On a test flight from New York to Denver tonight, the route display line was inexplicably broken, leaving a misaligned gap between the segments. I think I've wasted enough time with this if-it's-not-one-thing-it's-another mess. I feel bad for the developers who had a good idea for a light approach with high-quality graphics, but it doesn't look like it is to be realized with this. It's such a beautiful airplane I really hate to pull the plug, but one of us is getting out out of its misery tonight. It did rekindle my interest in airbuses, though, so I think I'll blow the dust of my Wilco collection. And there are always feelThere's excellent jungle jets for something different. Maybe the SimCheck A300 would wash the bad taste out of my mouth.
October 9, 201015 yr The simcheck A300 is in another class entirely, wonderful aircraft. Unfortunately looks and marketing seem to be all Airbus X has going for it. I could live with the light systems ect, but the use of the default A321 FBW is a total joke. Bottom line its just not any fun to fly.

October 9, 201015 yr The Simcheck A300 is a wonderful aircraft. Beware, there are no SIDs or STARs :)It is a steam driven aircraft with an INS.I am enjoying the AirbusX, yeah it has a few problems but they are being dealt with. I remember when PMDG released their 737 series, the number of problems and patches that happened over the first couple of months was astounding and yet it ended up as a pretty good product. I'm eagerly awaiting the advanced model but for now the lite version works for me. Scott
