October 19, 201015 yr Will RC V5 pronounce new callsigns that we add to traffic? For example:I added Alitalia Express in my traffic pack.[fltsim.X]title=AI ATR 72sim=PAIATR72model=texture=atc_heavy=0atc_airline=AZAXui_manufacturer=AIui_type=ATR 72ui_variation=description=Project AI ATR 72atc_parking_types=atc_parking_codes=AZAXWill it be possible to add my own callsign in RC callsign list? For example Alitalia Express In most probability, RC won't have the ability to do that. The speech is made up of precorded wavs, and editing them on the fly isn't easy. But I've added Alitalia Express' callsign ALIEXPRESS for RCv5 so you'll be able to hear it.Also just a quick note - your "atc_airline=" line above should read the callsign rather than the code. So it should read "atc_airline=ALIEXPRESS".Subs
October 19, 201015 yr If it had "left at Alpha, right on Bravo" that would be more than enough for me personally. I do enjoy the follow me vehicle I currently use with the cheap addon "Follow Me" for departures (rather than arrows), and enjoy how AES sends out the truck, but I do try and occasionally to follow the airport diagrams when available (and accurate to the sim that is). Acutally the more that I think of it, I think I would prefer verbal commands over a path. The only issue there might be with markings in the sim being wrong I guess.Edit: If you want to hear your own Airline, I would just create your own voice clip and replace the one in your prefered pilots folder. That's what I did but it gets addicting fast and now I'm knee deep in creating my own voice set. Major kudos to those making them! October 19, 201015 yr For me, it is not the progressive taxi that I really would like (I have not used any form of it for about two years, ever since I jumped away from default FSX ATC). But I really would like to have taxi clearence with a specific path. To me that is what is important, and that is what is realistic. And for that to be practical, RC would have to have some fort of ground control, so that it doesnt give me clearence to taxi say from KORD Terminal 3 to RWY 27L via Alpha, when it will have an aircraft using ALPHA to go south, instead of BRAVO. Hi Scott,Unfortunatly as simple as this sounds, RC would either have to hold you (sometimes for several minutes/hours) before you're allowed to start taxi to make sure any AI aren't using your assigned taxiways. Or as you're taxing along an AI lands, and then starts coming in the opposite direction. Or, RC has to take full control (which I'm not sure is even possible) of the AI and concentrate its efforts into maintaining seperation. One conflict resolved here though, means another head-on with other AI elsewhere. Also remember, not all AI are the same - some models stop during a conflict, some take ages to stop, and some don't stop at all. And then not all taxiways are the same, all kinds of various techniques has been discovered and used to make AI do all kinds of things that MS couldn't even have imagined. Now I quickly learned that Radar Contact really has no desire to maintain seperation, but is more about simulation the interaction rather than the function of ATC, however more interaction with AI aircraft would certainly be welcomed by me. I use Ultimate Traffic II, which has the nice feature to restart AI traffic from the add-on menu, which comes in handy when I turn down a taxi way to find a plane heading right at me, but it would be much nicer if RC could help me out so I never have to use that feature. Would also love to have RC intervene when a plane gets so close to me that my TCAS starts yelling "CLIMB CLIMB CLIMB", or at least give me the option to wish my controller good luck when he goes up for review due to seperation incidents, much like FSDO will get on the horn to yell at me because I ignored a go around order TCAS is also a good example of RC going beyond the scope of "how much ATC is ATC?". In the r/w TCAS works due to countless specific rules and regulations in relation to airspace management, TCAS installment mandates, pilot training, etc etc. We can probably simulate TCAS pilot/controller interaction but it's also pointless unless there is some seperation happening. Otherwise you get 20 TCAS RAs during a flight which is hardly realistic (more like an annoyance). Also we get bogged down doing TCAS, and don't have time to do other big things like SIDs & STARs. So it's also all a balancing act :)Subs

October 19, 201015 yr So I'll count you in as a volunteer for the v5 set? ;)SubsHaha, would love to! If you don't mind a Boston accent ;-)I feel bad for once refering to RC as robotic. Now that I have seen what is involved my hat tips further and further off to you gentlemen. I have redone a lot of it now, over and over again just trying to tweak certain things, to then just screw something else up in doing so haha. I have used editvoicepak for years with the FSX default ATC and have tons and tons of voices I created but of course that's a totally different thing being an actual voice generator engine-thinga-ma-bob. Probably the biggest reason I used it as long as I did.It would be cool to see more do their own sets, since we see a lot of people in the forum we get to know, it would be cool to have their voice available in our flights, hehe. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

For example, can we record wav independently and add it in RCV5 specific folder?

For example, can we record wav independently and add it in RCV5 specific folder?Yes, sure that can be done. There is also only a quick edit of a data file involved but we can cross that bridge later. The only problem with recording your own callsign(s) is that your voice won't match the original set. So for me, I think it'd sound a bit funny, but if you don't care much for the mismatch, then sure it can be done quite easily.Subs

As I understand correct, RC reads fltsim section in aircraft.cfg (atc_airline=ALIEXPRESS), then finds informaion in data file to use recording wav (example ALIEXPRESS=ALIEXPRESS.wav :() Correct?

October 21, 201015 yr So it's also all a balancing act :)Indeed! But is sounds like you are on top of it, and I cant wait to see what ends up being RC5. October 21, 201015 yr The voice sets for v5 were not recorded yet? Where can I get more info to be involved? The rcv5 voice sets haven't been finalised yet so nobody has recorded yet. We do keep a list of volunteers so we can contact them when the time comes to record. Please send a quick email to [email protected] with the subject "Recording Volunteer". Then we will contact you back when RCv5 is near completion. Your voice set will be greatly appreciated :)Subs

As I understand correct, RC reads fltsim section in aircraft.cfg (atc_airline=ALIEXPRESS), then finds informaion in data file to use recording wav (example ALIEXPRESS=ALIEXPRESS.wav :() Correct?Yes that's pretty much it. Let's do ALIEXPRESS as an example.1. First you will create the wav file of course, name it C_ALIEXPRESS.wav. You'll need to copy the wav into all the folders in \RCv4\winwood (except folder \99).2. Now create a plain txt file, name it C_ALIEXPRESS.txt. The contents of the file should only contain a single line, ALIEXPRESS at the top. (So like you double-click the file to open it and type ALIEXPRESS, then save and exit).3. Copy the C_ALIEXPRESS.txt file into both \RCv4\script\controllerscripts and \RCv4\script\pilotscripts.4. Now open the c4.csv (located in \RCv4\data) with notepad and insert the following line:ALIEXPRESS,C_ALIEXPRESS,Alitalia Express - Italy,0, 0After saving and closing the c4.csv, you should be able to go to RCv4 and Alitalia Express will be there to select, and hopfully voicing your wav file :) The same method should work for whatever callsign you want - just replace the ALIEXPRESS above with whatever else you want to add.Let me know how you go, and good luck,SubsPS. Take backups first ;)
