What is "RC5"?

Featured Replies

Well, I've managed in FS for over ten years without Radar Contact - I reckon I'll manage a bit longer. When RC5 finally comes out, I expect I'll buy it, given what I've heard so far.Martin

Agreed, we all have to wait a bit longer and no doubt we shall ALL be buying RC5. Reality is, there is nobody else making an ATC software so there is no competition and no choice for the paying customer. In the meantime, we shall just have to,..'Taxi To The Ramp'.

Hopefully there has been some progress with RC5 since last year? I won't ask for any dates!! A couple of questions though (not sure if they are answerable!): 1. Will RC5 work with whatever equivalent may appear (oh, if only!!) for FSHotSFX? After changing from XP to Win7 x64 this is the one programme I REALLY miss. Looks like FSHotSFX will never be made to work with Win7, but one or two other companies have said they are considering creating a similar programme.2. I have 'FDC Live Cockpit': Does RC4.3 (which I still haven't invested in) work OK with this? If so, I guess RC5 will too? They have their own PFE which of course will integrate fine with FDC,. but RC5, if and when it ever appears, sounds 'juicier', if that's the word! Thanks, Martin

After reading a bit about RC5. I hope that a few changes will be made, like the predictability of the altitude clearance. With RC4 i can always know what altitude atc is going to give me either in a climb or descent which takes the shine off a bit. Secondly i think the option to request descent at TOD from atc should be available esp if otto has comms. This is usually the case in non-radar airspace, the pd option should be available for radar controlled FIR.Lastly i hope rc5 comes in either full radar, semi radar or no radar control, it just might give it a more international appeal. One can only dream but these options will be perfect if implemented.
