September 13, 200322 yr fs2004 stutters beyond playable. I was able to run the game with no problem, then, all of a sudden it does this very bad stutter. So, bad that you cannot play the game. I have a P4 2.4 g, 1 gig mem, 128mb geforce 4600ti, audigy2 sound. I have reinstalled 4 times without success. Help!!!
September 14, 200322 yr Has nothing to do with FS2004 I'll bet. Tell me what other addons you have. This IS NOT from FS itself most likely. Look elsewhere for the fix: addons, drivers, etc etc etc.Good Luck, and read all the other areas in this forum at possible causes to your messed up performance. Again, it IS NOT FS9 that is the problem . . . you have plenty of horsepower, even if you have to turn down settings A LITTLE is all that should be required to rule out underpowered as a cause of your woes.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. September 15, 200322 yr I get the stutters when I am anywhere on the ground. (runway...taxiways...gates) If I use the map, and place my aircraft at altitude, it works fine. But when I go to land...stutters again. I have reinstalled my drivers for my video and sound card: 45.23 for nvidia 4600ti 128. I am losing patience, because I have tried everything I know.
September 15, 200322 yr Something has gone haywire in your system. I have found the hardway that it is seldom helpful to re-install the software. But if you have WinXP you may want to go back to a System Restore date to where your FS was not stuttering. If that does not help then definetly test your ram and your videocard for glitches there is a nice memory utility out there I forget what it is called.Good luckTony
September 16, 200322 yr If you are using FSUIPC, remove it and test. FSUIPC has proved to be a cause of stutters. See seperate topic in this Forum. Removing FSUIPC eliminated my stuttering completely. Adding it back resulted in stutters. So, for now, I'm removing it and will do without the add ons that require it.
September 16, 200322 yr Make sure you have the latest versions of FSUIPC (3.07)and AdvDisp (1.122) if you use those. There were problems with these a few versions ago.Try running your system in clean boot mode. If all is well, then you have some sort of problem with a background process. The clean boot method is described on the Microsoft website under knowledge base document 310353.Try deleting your fs9.cfg file, and then start FS2004 to build a new one. This cures lots of problems.Good luck Dick Parker in Northeast Ohio USA Windows 10 64-bit | Nvidia GTX 1080 | ORBX | P3D 4.4.16.27077
September 16, 200322 yr Try defragmenting your hard drive as well. The best way is to uninstall, defrag, install, then defrag again. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
September 16, 200322 yr You can always find it using "search".Otherwise, look on your hard drive under "documents & settings", then under your computer name, then under "application data", then under "microsoft", then "fs9", and there it is, "fs9.exe".There are several posts on this, such as the FAQ on this site. September 16, 200322 yr Ok, i have found the FS9.exe...but not FS9.cfg file, once I find it, then I dont know what to do. I have no FS9.cfg file in my " Flight Simulator 9" folder. There is a FS2002.cfg there though.
September 16, 200322 yr The reply just above tells you how to find it. You WON'T find it in the Flight Simulator 9 folder. Also, make sure you can view hidden files. Once you do find it, do what I did--create a shortcut to it in the Flight Simulator 9 folder. It's easier than trying to dig it up whenever you need to tweak it....-John
September 16, 200322 yr Try turning down the air traffic density to 50 in your traffic settings and see if that helps. I noticed that if I use 100% air traffic density at some airports I can barely move because of the low frame rates. Lowering the density seems to help a lot.Eddie
