Long Beach "Hill" problem solved

Featured Replies

After a good deal of experimenting I finally discovered the source of the mysterious "hill" which appears (on some simmers setups) near the new Long Beach airport (KLGB) by Shez. The hill comes from an EZ library named woody's ez rocks_boulders_snowdrifts.bglIf you remove that file and it's associated txt file (woody's ez rocks_boulders_snowdrifts.txt) the "hill should dissapear. It is still very much of a mystery as to why the KLGB scenery "triggers" a placement of the "hill" from that bgl.I have attached a screenshot again showing the "hill" in question.Hope this helps anyone who see's the same mysterious "hill" that I do (or rather "did").

You know what's interesting, we have a hill in Long Beach named "Signal Hill". It's in MegaScenery SoCal2 and that kind of reminds me of it :)Mark

Signal Hill is modeled in this scenery and that is what that hill represents.Shez

Glad to have been able to find the "culprit".What I suspect has happened is that there is some object - perhaps a beacon or a building - which you or FRF has placed in that location which happens to have the same GUID identifier as one of the objects in Woody's EZ library.Granted it is very rare that two identical GUID numbers would ever come up - but that is my guess as to what has happened here.

Now I am really confused as you posted a screenshot earlier of the area and there was no "hill" that I could see.You said "it should look like this" if memory serves. :(

Opa, that hill was placed on purpose to represent Signal Hill. At the time of production, my system was not cooperating with Sbuilder, and that was all I could do to install the hill. It is roughly the same height and area as the real hill. In a future update, Signal hil will be added as a rise in elevation. I live near LGB, and that hill is part of the scenery there. To arrive in LGB without it is just unrealistic..

Thanks for the explanation -I'm sorry but it looks so "unrealistic" to me that I think I will just leave it out until such time as an update is available.

Ha, have to chime in as I used to live on Signal Hill years ago. But haven't had the mysterious hill appear like you Opa. I use MegaScenery SoCal and let me tell you the airport blends in beautifully with the scenery. Yea, those bright blue and red textures are really there. They're just panted those obnoxious colors on the cement if I remember correctly. Pity the airport has become such a mish-mosh of buildings in front of the old terminal building. Upstairs is a little museum on the history of aviation there. Lost a lot of it's character when they did that. Reminds me when they would roll in temporary trailer classrooms from my school days. And now that big pile of dirt where the Boeing buildings used to be. :( . Was hopin' to see the famous McDonnell Douglas "Fly DC Jets" neon sign. You guys did a great job with this face-lift. Clutch

Now if you can remove the mountain that appears in southwest Memphis, TN, that would be something ! :(

I thought I was the only person who had that problem. Good to know it's not just me. It would indeed be nice to find out what causes that and remove it if possible.
