October 17, 201015 yr I must admit that my first and still remaining thought about your huge post was "please, calm down". Shame on me. I hope you feel better not after writing this and missing the topic by more than some nm.My intervention was targeted towards this childish and very self-revelationed "I'm flying somehow realer, so I'm better" mentality and all posts trying to fight this intervention just underlined the need for it. Funny paradox, isn't it?Seems like my PMDG examples just did the same thing: forcing some reactions that are emotionally driven and sadly not fact based, showing the need for a correction again.Sad to see that some guys follow a forum bias without being able to discuss things in a objective manner. Seeing someone jumping in, defining "the truth" for others by order (regarding your last sentence) might be another indication for a strange regime around. To doubt the QW approach on the 787 and (maybe) simultaneously using and praising some of those 747 variants (which are good examples and only examples) from the other dev together with the mentioned mentality is a very poor reflection of somebody's mind in my eyes.At least, QW might use some rw data while e. g. the 747-8i goes completely off the line, by intention of course. I haven't read any doubts around Avsim on this plane but a vast amount on much more detailed and correct approaches from other devs.So maybe our "truths" differ a bit and I can't really say that I'm sad about his fact."Cool"Okay, so in polite society one tends not to use words as "childish" and "calm down" and "very poor relfections of somebody's mind" because those tend to be take the conversation to be personal in nature and quite uncalled for. Believe it or not, others will have an opinion that differs from yours (shocking revelation) and I was not attacking you, simply offering a different opinion than yours. But I at least can assure you that I'm calm...my blood pressure is currently 125/70. :-) But maybe if we keep personal insults out of the conversation an accord can be reached. That said, are you under the assumption that many of us are unable to differenciate between marketing slogans and actuality? Being that I don't post on any developers forums unless I really need help and I don't post banners in by signatures...what is this "forum bias" of which you speak? Everyone claims to be "verified by real pilots" and I've found that to be far from reality in the vast majority of cases.Let's agree there is a difference between "real" and "realistic". Real will require one to get one's ATP, apply at an airline and find oneself in the cockpit of an airliner. Realistic refers to the level of detail one imbues into a product to reflect the operation of the simulated object. One artist can paint a stick figure and say that he has represented a realistic representation of the real person standing in front of me. Similarly a gifted artist can then paint a beautifully rendered painting of the model standing in front of him and claim that to be a realistic representation. We can then take both to a marketing department and they can plaster the world "realistic" on both and put them in a store. Neither is a "real" person but which is more a "more realistic" representation irrespective of what the marketing slogan says? Is this not true or am I just exhibiting a "childish" "forum bias" after being adopted into a "regime"?So, I don't know about any "forum bias" or "regimes", U.F.Os, black helicopters or who really shot J.F.K and neither do I particually care (actually I am a Freemason so I actually do know..but I ain't tellin'). I do know that differing opinions are welcomed here on this forum and if mine differs from yours so be it. Being that I don't know you any more than you know me, perhaps your personal suppositions are better kept to yourself as that tends to make for a much friendlier environment.Sorry to hijack the thread. I'm looking forward to see what QW comes up with in their 787 especially as they start appearing in the skies over the next couple of years.
October 17, 201015 yr I'm sorry for your hijacking too, Sir.Never disrespected your intentions or opinions. Sad to read that you refer some context-free quoted words to yourself. Should I feel sorry for that too? The only real personal one was "calm down" (which still looses its context when quoted) and as you've posted your blood pressure values above, it seems to have worked out. I'm glad. And still "yes", our sights on some things differ. No problem here but at least we are both looking forward to a nice 787 from QW. Good start I think. :(
October 17, 201015 yr You have clearly not seen some of Lars's work. He is one of the best exterior modelers I know. trust me when I say that the 787 will most probably end up looking just like the real thing. You knwo what? I'll even go as far as saying that I think Lars is one of the most gifted exterior modelers of our time.I agree. October 18, 201015 yr Strange topic here. With regards to how we are going to be getting accurate numbers on the plane, just trust us with it. We wouldnt be making it if we didnt think we couldnt do it. There are certain people on the team that have amazing resources with being able to find those very numbers that are in question. Look at it this way, as each day passes more and more information becomes avaiable, not the other way around, and it will continue to be like."just trust us with it. We wouldnt be making it if we didnt think we couldnt do it." Not to burst your bubble but Boeing is not going to release information on a aircraft that's not even out yet. So how will you be able to pull this off? Ian Paxton The lights are dimming on FSX and only getting brighter for XPX.
October 18, 201015 yr Hopefully we get to see the SP2 for the 757 sometime soon? With the talk of higher res textures especially the virtual cockpit, it's making me really excited!!

By the time QW releases their 787 I am sure that much more will be known regarding the aircraft.
