October 24, 201015 yr This is truly a magnificent aircraft in every respect. The rxp integration and super smooth instruments are much appreciated! Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 24, 201015 yr I have a few issues, nothing hugely major, posted on their forums...But does anyone have the RXP GNS430W installed without FLT N gauges? I was thinking I'd have to use default autopilot along with the GNS430W to get autopilot functionality...Anyway, this is an excellent bird - if you like GA, you need this plane :( | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 24, 201015 yr Correct me if I a wrong guys but is this not the same aircraft as the Eaglesoft Columbia 400 with hotter engine? Does anybody have both and wish to comment on how they compare?I have the Columbia 400 which is a very good aircraft overall, but I don't fly it much as I find the outward visability from the 3D cockpit is far too limited due to the huge "A" pillars, one being in front of and beside the pilots head. Outward visability seems better in the Lancair, at least in the few pics I have looked at. Also maybe the Columbia 400 is harder on frames with the glass panel??? Any comments welcome. October 24, 201015 yr With the standard SP2 installed, I can NOT get the CONTROL PANEL to function! The same as Carenado's 208 Grand Caravan.I press SHIFT-1 and it comes up..but no functionality. What is with this?I can not click off of the Pilot Icon.Any suggestions from the ORBX guys?:(The battery master has to be off.I'd like to add that a paintkit is already in the box if you buy this beauty and they even had an eye for such small details like an already included AES config file. As I said, they've followed the wish list step by step. The only downside could be that GPS and PFD aren't available as popups and the guys without TrackIR or EzDok will need some sharp eyes and a calm hand to follow and operate these very well done units.Poncho, the C400 is fixed gear, heavier, less powerful, slower but FAA certified, so no kit aircraft. The Lancair might be available in different avionics setups and you'll see a modern type in this Orbx release but no G1000 for example. The visibility should be about the same judging from the pictures of the C400. There is a huge A pillar too. I have set up my view with Ezdok so I can't tell about flying her with the default view, but this "A" is a noticeable obstacle of course.

OK, thanks, I'll give that try right away. Other than this, I love the plane.

The window is as broken as the Carenado deal. The icons all light up with no action on them at all. I even reinstalled FSX SP2 and that made no difference whatsoever.

Other than this, I love the plane. The pilot and the bag need the "off", the rest can be done with "on". Haven't tested every formation here but "engine on" will surely be another (comprehensible) brake for some animation efforts. I'm suggesting the Orbx forums for further support.

You need to also start out from the SAFE START for COMPLEX aircraft, then swap out for the Lancair IV. Case solved. The pilot and the bag need the "off", the rest can be done with "on". Thanks for the suggestions. I found out that I have to also start from the SAFE START for Complex Aircraft before switching out to the Lancair. That worked.Mitch
October 24, 201015 yr I for one will not be flying ANYTHING else for a long time, the boys at ORBX nailed this one.I agree. Just landed from a three hour flight. The plane flies and operates beautifully. FL230 at a ground speed of 268 knots enroute!
October 24, 201015 yr The only downside could be that GPS and PFD aren't available as popups and the guys without TrackIR or EzDok will need some sharp eyes and a calm hand to follow and operate these very well done units. I have to correct this statement as it's no longer valid. They will do some popups on the upcoming service pack. Great decision in my eyes. That's a "listen to customer wishes" attitude right out of the book in my eyes. Perfect.
October 24, 201015 yr Is there a timeframe for the servicepack? The new lighting and rain effect has me really interested.
October 24, 201015 yr Good question. I would assume that they are gathering information now on possible "to do" items after this fresh start so it will be hard to state dates then.I had this question in mind but didn't feel comfortable asking. You will like the current lighting too and I have no doubt that, if you buy it now, will enjoy the whole package enough to have some fun while waiting. Just head over to the Orbx forums to see how busy and very user oriented those guys are to get a feel for the policy of this company. If every 1.0 version of a product would have been like this, no support forums would be needed.
