While on topic.. I use World of AI and often when flying VFR I don't get cleared to land on small airports. I land anyway and it says "you were not cleared to land, clear the runway". However if I then look around me i don't see any aircraft anywhere near me or on final. It's dead. How come the ATC doesn't clear me?

Squishy, do you use the inbuilt ATC within flightsim to actually "contact" them? if you press the ' key it should bring up the ATC window. There should be an option there to report your position to land. (I haven't used it for years so can't remember the exact phrase). Without contacting them you'll get them shout at you. Also if you have contacted them then they should clear you to land once you are on finals for the runway they told you to join.

PeteThanks, that would explain it then. There are no such issues with VATSIM. I really wanted to use IVAO but this problem has stopped me using it.

Alex, just my curiousity how can you resolve this ? I know the devs quite good (Kenny and Filip) and they told me there is nothing we can do about it. If you can tell me what to do, I'll tweak or modify it. Where's the time we had to start FS with that 5 1/4" floppy disc on a XT machine and only having 4 colors in CGA-mode ? Now these days users are not happy when a strobe light is not flashing as a real aircraft. In our old days we were happy when we could fly the C-172 and the Learjet in only 4 areas in the US. Yes, it's all nostalgia now ... On the other side, FS has been grown to the oldest hobby (game for some) in computer history with a lot of strong features (many thanks to PMDG).

Ehm, yes, i request to land and it says inbound blabla runway 5. Sometimes, when approaching, i get cleared to land instantly. But sometimes, nothing happens and I have to circle around before getting cleared. Nothing weird about it, except when I land anyway, I don't see any traffic.. so why wasn't i cleared immediately?
