Will the 737NGX run with a duel core processor and an ATI mobility Radion HD 4200 graphics card or am I really dreaming here?

1 GB graphics card?Make sure your processor runs at least 2.6 GHz, prefer 3.2 GHZ or more. Make sure you have at least 4 GB RAM, make sure you defragment your whole FSX folder, make sureyour PC is abit clean, make sure you use (eventually) some tweaks to boost up FSX.In other words, your graphics card is not THE thing that has to be the best of the best. It's the whole thing that has to be abit good, ... your pc.- Have a look below my signature. There you'll see my PC specs. I have not a very very good computer but good enough to run PMDG 737X with a good look of everything and still 20 fps. Beside that,PMDG has told us several times that the performance of the 737NGX will be better than the 737X. ;)

hmm only a 2.3 duel core, and 500 MGH on the processor, maybe I had better hold of on buying it until I get a much faster computer.

Geez... Does that even run FSX?

I recommend you to get at least 2.6 GHz, prefer 3.2 GHz. All above 3.2 GHz will be better ofcourse.

I was looking at Digital storm to build me an FSX beast for about $3500 to $4000 with SLI and top of the line i 7 processor that should run FSX no problem and future proof as well.

$3500 to $4000
Ain't that abit too much just to play a "game" called Flight Simulator? :(

Steven Albi

Yeah, that is way to high. Check out the hardward forums here in AVSIM and buy the parts from somebody like newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/ ). You should be able to put together something under $2000, and future upgrades will be easier.

I priced an extreme computer, but they can build one for as low as $900 but I doubt it would run FSX very well.

I also wanted to play FSX with all max. and I also wanted all add-ons there were in the "fsx-world" but suddenly, at I say I asked myself:- "Why flying above maximized terrain that contains many add-ons and many more if I just want to fly an airplane from A to B as real as possible." (real in sentence of procedures and more, not real in sentenceof real scenery).Keep in mind, it's just a Flight Simulator to practise your flying skills and to fly from A to B as real as it gets. But ofcourse! The view has to be abit nice, yeaa.. ofcourse! But I just want to tell you: Spending money for a new computer for Flight Simulator isn't a problem but do not spend that much. Be happy with a computer where you can get 25-30 fps.:(

I can get 30 FPS on the default aircraft, but I think the NGX would reduce it to less than 5FPS which would be un flyable.

Checking Tom's Graphics Hierarchy Chart (published about once a month) shows the ATI Mobility HD4200 in the same performance category of an old Nvidia FX5900(!). The ATI HD4200 is so far down the chart that you can't see the top from there. Even if you had some super ultra-cold modded dual core screamer at 4Ghz (in this laptop) - you'd be left watching a slide show - if that.Bottom-line: The verdict is "Dreaming", as you indicated. :( BUT, as many a poster has mentioned, there is hope! (no, no, not for that old laptop, give that to the wife or kids to surf the net with) as components, especially memory, are pretty cheap. I've built a an i7-920, clocked to 3.33 on air, run Vista 64, 6 GB Ram, and a decent GTS250 grahics card, and I get 20-40 with everything maxed on PMDG 747-8i (sliders to the right, 10 % cars, 15% ships, 10% boats) I fligh out of complex scenery (a HI add-on) and in weather and it'sa all quite smooth and looks STUNNING!You can build something like the above for all of a grand ($1,000) nowadays, likely less.We have finally achieved it! FSX performance for the masses! :( Cheers,Patrick Bell

This is the route I will have to go, but it will be worth the wait.
