LVLD-767 - Windows 7 -BLACK screens

Featured Replies

I have been flying Flight Sims for 12 years and my favorite aircraft is the Level-D 767. I's about the only large airliner that I fly. I have had a MAJOR computer update and it now is using Windows 7 and like a lot of you trying to use Windows 7 and the FS 2004 LVLD-767 it does not work too good. Just about click on any window and the screen goes completely black. But you also know that. I can usually get my "picture" back by clicking around on the top of the screen and pulling the "window" down a little..... but its really frustrating as you know. I've tried for years to get into and/or sign up for the LVLD forum, but for whatever reason , I can't so I cannot get any help from them. I'm assuming that most people are having the same problem so the only thing I can think of doing is finding another favorite aircraft. So, What are some comparable aircraft to the FS2004 LVLD-767 that will fly good in Windows 7. Please give me any info that you can. Thanks jerrycwo4

first , did you follow all the recomendations not to install FS into the default win7 / programs directory?did you install FS in it's own custom folder, or even better it's own harddrive or partition?did you turn OFF UAC for this custom directory?--

I can tell you that even after doing all of that, the Level-D doesn't work well at all since I've used Windows 7 64. It's been compounded seemingly since I've upgraded to a 1080p monitor.

I also have Win7 and my 767 runs fine. I don't know if this may help, but try the following:- Right-click on the main FS9 folder, then go to Properties.- Go to the Security tab.- Edit the permission settings so that Everyone has Full control enabled over this folder (and subfolders).By the way, I'm running FS in windowed mode, but I don't remember having any problems with the 767 in full-screen mode. OK, a black screen for 1-2 seconds after I press Alt, but I can live with it or go to windowed mode.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

I have no problems running the LDS767 on my Windows 7 64 bit installation. When I call up a specific 2D panel for the first time the screen goes black for roughly one or two seconds, but then the picture returns. It does not happen upon calling up that same specific 2D panel again, but it does happen for every 2D panel that is called up for the first time. Other than that, the LDS767 is running absolutely fine. I fear I don't know what to recommend you to do, though, just saying that I don't have the same problems as you do. Except saying what Luis Miguel advices you to do, I can only advice you to have FS2004 run with admin permissions.

Windows 10 64bit - i5-8600k @ 4.7GHz - ASRock Fatality K6 Z370 - EVGA GTX1070 SC 8GB VRAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX @ 3200MHz - Samsung 960 Evo SSD M.2 NVMe 500GB - 2x Samsung 860 Evo SSD 1TB (P3Dv4/5 drive) - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM - Seasonic FocusPlus Gold 750W - Noctua DH-15S - Fractal Design Focus G (White) Case

Every single FS9 aircraft I have runs perfectly fine in Windows 7 64-bit. That includes the LDS 767.:( But then again, I have my FS9 installation on a totally dedicated drive... Win 7 is on it's own drive and FS9 has an entire 1TB drive all to itself.

Firstly, it's not impossible to get access to the Level D Support Forum. Simply email them and you get granted access. They provide numerous ways to get access. Once you're in, you'll see a gigantic FAQ here http://www.leveldsim.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=11944&title=main-faq-read-thisOther than that, the LevelD 767 works perfectly on my Windows 7 x64 and I have not even heard of any issues with the operating system. I would suspect you have some graphics driver issue. I have from time to time had a blackscreen problem like yours but it's not the LevelD that's causing it.

After a week of "TWEEKING" I finally got LVLD-767 to fly fairly well. I have a new 4 monitor, very complex Flight Sim computer which is the fastest that money can buy ( within reason). It does have some tempory lock-ups with are quick to fix (minimize and return to FS2004) and I guess that I'll have to live with that but the clairity and sharpness of my 4 monitors are breathtaking ! After 12 years of flight simming I finnally reach the true "It's as good as it gets". I have not set up my FSX as yet. Still working on FS2004I'm sorry that I cann't tell the exact thing that I did to get rid of the black screens but I think the main thing I did was to use "system restore" to go back two days before trying to install and old version of Flight Deck Companion that didn't work propery. I don't get the BLACK SCREENS any more. Thanks to all who tried to help. jerrycwo4
