December 16, 201015 yr Ladies and Gentlemen, This article from the Royal Aeronautical Society's Blog (at the link below) was forwarded to me from a friend and P3 Orion driver...fantastic read on how 71,000 combined flight hours of experience, sound CRM, some structural rigidity and good old fashioned luck saved the day for QF32.Certainly covers the incident with a different slant than most media outlets did (if at all). Its fairly lengthy, but helps pass the time as we wait...http://www.aerosocietychannel.com/aerospace-insight/2010/12/exclusive-qantas-qf32-flight-from-the-cockpit/Regards,Zach Heinrich Also, trying to figure out how to edit a Topic Title, as I mis-spelled Qantas... v/r Zach Heinrich

December 17, 201015 yr I did not know that - cool. (I always spell it right though!)Qantas started at Longreach, in Queensland (northern part of the state). Hence the name "Longreach" on all QF 747-400's... Matthew Bellette

December 17, 201015 yr Qantas started at Longreach, in Queensland (northern part of the state). Hence the name "Longreach" on all QF 747-400's...Actually the official birthplace of Qantas was Winton about 120km NW of Longreach :) They moved to Longreach after the first board meeting. Longreach is now home to a 747-200 (VH-EBQ) and a 707 (VH-XBA) amongst others. Driving through Longreach from Winton, the sight of a 747 scares the willies out of you! A work colleague of mine was GM of the museum there (http://www.qfom.com.au/) when the 747 was flown in - it was a one shot landing, they were at minimum fuel as it is a very short runway and a missed approach would have resulted in a diversion.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDJOtwGUAcI Scott
December 17, 201015 yr Author You better not... or it will be off with your head! Q= QueenslandA= andN= NorthernT= TerriotryA= AerialS= ServicesI had no idea it was an acronym...l learn something new every day (three things actually - how to spell Qantas, what Qantas stands for, and how to edit erroneous spelling in a Topic Title - though Vin gets credit for that last one!). Thanks for setting me straight :( Im glad everyone has enjoyed the article. It was too good an item to let sit in my inbox.v/rZach Heinrich v/r Zach Heinrich
