How to change the eyepoint?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I recently bought a C206 from Carenado, as I was pointed towards by the guys here. I have to say, it´s the pane I´ve searched for. So far, so good, but now I have an big problem. My eyepoint in the VC is far too low, I even can´t see over the cowling. In Fs9 there was a little dll called "F1_view.dll" from Flight 1 to change the eyepoint insde the FS. Tried to add the dll to DLL.xml, but nothing happened.Hoping that someone can teach me how to change the eyepiont in FSX.Here is a picture of what I mean:2010-12-20_22-3-31-514.jpg

I use the folllowing on all my panel cfg files. I only use the 2d panel normally and can't remember whether it acts on the VC too.Add or Edit this entry in the panel.cfg file:VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=4.800, 0.000, 0.000 // Pitch, Bank, Heading4.800 will adjust the angle down 4.8% which is roughly equivalent to 3 x Ctrl-QThe view you have is the view the real pilot has in real life though.IAN

Make the last number bigger.

All views in the VC can be changed by using pre programmed key presses and POV switch. . Its good to get use to using them
This is true, but it's helpful to have a good initial view and assign a key to instantly return to it. After setting the height of the eyepoint to see over the instrument panel, it's also helpful to tilt your view down to also see the instruments at the same time. This is done in the cameras.cfg file by changing the first number following "InitialPbh =" in the virtual cockpit CameraDefinition. It will apply to all aircraft.

Not even close. In my old 2000 206, the top of the G1000 was just about the middle of my rib cage. This gave me a good view over the glare shield to a point about five inches up from the spinner, and that was with my seat down about two clicks because I'm a bit on the tall side. I never had any adult with me who couldn't see over the glare shield, with or without adjusting the seat.

From my notes (I have not triesd it):Eyepoint Adjustment:To edit the eyepoint for each aircraft. Open the aircraft.cfg file and look under the 'Views' section for the eyepoint setting. It will look like this:eyepoint = 53.0, -1.8, 4.3 To raise your eyepoint to see over the panel increase the third number, in this case 4.3 to a higher number like 4.9.The first number is fore/aft, the second number is left/right.Seat UP=CNTL+QSeat DN=CNTL+SHFT+QDave
