Any Gulfstream V's out there?

Featured Replies

Wow...where to start with that one... How about this, as a member of the Gulfstream family, I am proud to be one of the thousands who have made the largest donation ever received to the regional United Way and IRC, for the third straight year. More volunteers to charities and civic organizations in our region can be traced back to Gulfstream than any other employer... Yea, we are a bunch of greedy SOBs, we are. But, having said that, I DO appreciate comment number one :()
I find myself gut-laughing, once again, at the mysterious fear that some people have of GAC's perceived control of anything resembling the image of a Gulfstream in flightsimland.I note that Abacus already sells Gulfstream add ons...OK, bad ones, but still, I haven't seen the oft-referenced horde of GAC attorneys marching forward to shut them down for -gasp- selling a Gulfstream model in one of their collections.I have thousands of hours and real-world type ratings in every Gulfstream variant except the original turboprop G-I. I've spent lots of time in their factory, with their executives and sales reps, have had major input into US government purchase and support decisions, and having done that I think there's got to be a huge disconnect still unresolved between the real people there and the FS world. This illusion that they are waiting in the wings with an army of lawyers for the first person to dare release a model of their aerospace craven image is...laughable.This is the perfect environment for the release of a killer freeware Gulfstream add-on. :( RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

I believe the folks at EagleSoft (the premiere FS corp jet dev IMHO) have a different opinion. As I recall they looked into this and GS said no way Jose. Feel free to correct me on this ES :( My #2 point above was a reference to what they charge just to use a picture of their plane, I can only imagine the fee if they actually allowed someone to make an accurate model of FS. I am glad to see some of their profits go to worthwhile organizations.Wha baffles me is why they would not want to let a developer use their specs to create one. With all the publicity and the number of people who fly FS, it just might result in a sale or two. I'm positive the profit from just one 40 million dollar plane would more than justify releasing the info.Maybe our resident GS rep here could talk to the 'powers' at corp HQ :(

Oh yes! As if the vast majority of flightsimmers could actually afford to buy a Gulfstream... :( The "gain" and "benefit" is simply a matter of patent enforcement. They have patents on even the shape of their windows. If they allow an official "exception" even in such a relatively trivial matter as a 3d model, then they've essentially gutted any legal recourse they might persue for future patent infringements by real a/c manufacturers.
Baloney, Bill. Assuming that they really had some legal claim on a picture or virtual re-creation of one of their windows, all they'd have to do is license the use of their patent to retain whatever legal recourse they might have. And as in any aspect of life, it's always better not to step on toes, as you never know when they'll be connected to the a** you'll have to kiss to get a contract some day. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that that the GAC PR guys have let this bad blood brew as long as they have. The reality is you never know who knows who and might pick up a phone and kill a multimillion dollar deal...my guess is that the right guys in that company just haven't considered the issue yet. Hope springs eternal...RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

Even their nuts and bolts are patented! Dave.

Hello Dave:When I get home I will reply with the panel in question. You can draw your own conclusions as to "why" then.RTH

Like, what? And why are they incompatible? I currently have a set of gauges from a freeware Global Xpress XRS model that I've been saving to help port overs, along with the installation of iSGsim's TCAS and EHSI gauges. Dave.

Well, I've never known anything about the FS8 aircraft above. Dave.

I'll answer in a fairly detailed way in order to clear up some bits which are not true.First and foremost there have been rumours to the effect that Gulfstream prohibits (Commercial FS Development) of it's products for as far back as I can remember. The only Official response from Eaglesoft Development Group is that "we are not about to build one without express permission from the powers that be."If the resident GS rep or Bob Scott wishes to contact me for further discussion on this matter we will be happy to accomodate. The only conversation I've had with anyone even remotely close to the "right people" occured a number of years ago through a gentleman who relocated to Savannah to further his obligations to GS.The conversation was private but promising. The only sound I've heard from him since that time is "the number you've reached is no longer in service".Unanswered emails and real aviation demands are probably the culprits but the Official Eaglesoft response remains the same... "without express permission, we ain't touching it"Big%20Grin.gif

Hello:As promised in my previous reply, the following are the links to what I have for the GV:The best choice for the aircraft itself in my humble opinion is the LinderDesigns model by Peter Brun. The progression of downloads I have in my archives for this bird are as follow:1. gulfstream-v.zip (gulfstream0v Partial download from AvSim 11-23-04)2. ldgv1.2zip (Complete download 11-23-04)3. gulfstream-v-updated.zip (Gulfstream-v-updated 12-20-044. gulf_5v3.zip (gulf_5v3 8-28-06)The panel I personally prefer is by Marco Spada although I have customized it to my personal liking:5. gulfst04.zip (gulfst04 Gulfstream V Panel 12-1-04)As you can see, these files are very old going back to 2004. They were all downloaded from either the AvSim Library or FlightSim Library. Therefore, due to the hack a few months ago, they may not be still available on AvSim. Take a peek, and if any of this turns out to be something you are interested in, another choice might be for me to simply email you what I have as the bird in my "aircraft" folder. If so, give me your email address. Due to attachment size limits it will be 16 emails so be sure your reception box has not already about reached its limit. Again, this is for FS9 only. The aircraft flies fine in FSX, but you will need a different panel. I use a modified MSFS default Learjet panel in FSX, but it leaves a lot to be desired in my personal opinion. Other Gulfstram files I still have archived are as follow. In my opinion most are nowhere near as good as those I have listed above and I doubt that they will interest you, but for what they are worth:6. c37usafu.zip (C37usaf Gulfstream Military from FS98. Used as AirForce One at times)7. g100-moz.zip (g100-moz G100 2-12-04)8. g-IV Pax Source Files.zip (G-IV Pax Source Files 6-8-04)9. gulfstream-ivv3.zip (gulfstream-ivv3 6-8-04)10. sgulf5.zip (squlf5 Mike Stone 7-17-04 This is the model mentioned in another reply by some kind soul. You may have to go to Mike Stone's site to download this one.)11. usafgulf.zip (usafgulf 7-17-04 This is probably another option for AirForce One)Again, if you would like copies of what I have given others relative to what I have installed, give me your email address and I will be happy to send it to you. From other replies, obviously there are others that feel there is nothing available in FS worth having relaive to the Gulfstream, but thankfully there are as many opinions as there are ways to sharpen a knife. I personally still find pleasure in flying this bird, particularly on long flights for which there are few of any pure Exec. Jets with such a range (i.e. KJFK-LLBG). If any of this is of use to you, have at it and if not just trash it.Good Luck:RTHGooote name='boing71234567' timestamp='1293418671' post='1899660']Hello, I am really looking for a good Gulfstream V out there... cause I know it is very in demand now, and I have seen a lot of people requesting it on other forums. Does anyone here know of a Good Gulfstream V? Right now I have the HTAI, but it is really not very good. And needs a good Panel and soundset.-thank you
