January 18, 201115 yr This has nothing to do with this thread, but this is a bad analogy. There was a pro pitcher a few years ago that was missing half his left arm. He was good, too.BobBob, just ignore him. Seriously, he's not worth your time
January 18, 201115 yr Author Ok, so the good news is I was able to coerce my voltage down to 1.30v at 4.6GHz. The bad news is that I needed 1.42v to get 4.8GHz... and my temps shot up to 86C! January 18, 201115 yr The Intel processor i7-2600k (or i7-2500k) is the ideal processor for FSX. It can run Prime95 stable @ 4.6 GHz with air cooling, Vcore < 1.3 V and core temperatures < 70 oC.I deactivated Hyper-Threading, because FSX is not supporting it. Overclocking is also facilitated. See this screen. Best regards from RelaxX

January 18, 201115 yr Thanks for the PC lessonYou're welcome.Bob, just ignore him. Seriously, he's not worth your timeI know. It's just that the OP was kind enough to share his experience with this new technology. Then experts (who do not own SB) come on and argue theory, based on someone else's research (that may or may not be accurate),and try to show off how much they think they know. I see this on both sides. I do not know very much about why my computer works, but this forum is proof that FS doesn't follow the rules. Folks with the same rig and software get different results. Folks with "state of the art" (this week)computers still can't run FSX full blast with lots of heavy add ons. Is it because FSX is poorly coded? Is it because Joe Blow doesn't have a clue how to set up his rig? Doesn't make any difference why, but we all quest for the best we can get. Seems to me that the ones with the hardware are in the best position to comment on how it works.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

I have no idea how you are claiming 150 million transistors doesn't produce more heat.. but to you apparently if I owned one I could watch all those switches turn themselves off.....

January 18, 201115 yr David Roch: I can keep adding people to my list.... that's about all I can do. I can't help them from stalking me from one thread to another... I really can't see how anyone can argue the 2600k is not the best one for overclocking purposes. There is obviously alterior motives in all of these posts. As bobby jack pointed out he was trying to Make me more PC, when in 2011that is unPC in itself. It's not up to an american how I choose to speak the queens english.
