FSXMark11

I would also like to add to Stephen's response that while some hardware may not have much to gain from FSX.CFG tweaks, some hardware benefits immensely from it. The .CFG has to be tailored to the hardware. Without the tweaks, it still would not be a fair comparison between hardware configurations. Personally I would like to know the performance with at least the common tweaks applied, because those are the ones that have the highest impact on FPS. No tweaks applied may not truly illustrate just how well the hardware can run FSX. If we want to get specific and idealistic, your benchmarking would be done with nothing but the most common tweaks applied (BufferPools, HighMemFix, and AffinityMask). No outside scenery, utilities, etc, etc installed. I'm perfectly fine with that, but the concern with that is that nobody will be willing to run the benchmark. It was with this in mind that the guide insists on using Bojote's online tweak tool before benchmarking unless you have already done so. Finally I would encourage you to play with the common tweaks (BufferPools, HighMemFix, and AffinityMas) and try to optimize FSX for your hardware before throwing out benchmark results.
I understand what you are saying.Like I said before, no tweak in my fsx.CFG, I'll run some test with the same tweak as yours and will see how I'll do with them.

LOL..... Shame%20On%20You.gif remember.....I have no fsx.CFG tweak and the GTX 480 was running at default for the test.... *snip*
Was kidding. That's 4667.4MHz, not 4667.4GHz

OK I did 4 more test with the same tweak as Corey'sGTX 480 at default...[bufferPools]UsePools=1RejectThreshold=98304PoolSize=8388608[JobScheduler]AffinityMask=14[Graphics]HighMemFix=1Here are the result....test # 2Frame15829min: 36Max: 67avg: 52.763Test # 3Frame15674min: 36Max: 66avg: 52.247Test # 4Frame15726min: 36Max: 67avg: 52.42With the tweak the min, max and average FPS are higher and do not fluctuate as much,min = 36-36-36, max = 67-66-67, avg = 52-52-52........Now we just need to make a vid. with the FPS counter on.....Big%20Grin.gif

Awesome. Those are great results, but you may still have more to gain with that 980X! Do you have HT enabled? If not, try AffinityMask=62 or 63. If you do have HT enabled, try AffinityMask = 4095.

Nop! HT disable....will try the affinity mask tomorrow....stay tuned....:Whew:

Guys, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, I wasn't aware that my computer might be THAT much slower than 2600K/GTX580 combo:MIN 8MAX 23AVG 14And this is with inspector off, all as per pdf instuctions. REX is restored too.

Thanks for the info and benchmarking guys.Stephen,What cloud set in rex od are using for that pic; both the cloud and sky set? That looks great!

Guys I am joining the club now that my new rig is stable @ 4.95. <_< I'll report my results ASAP.I can't seriously compare my old i7 965 @4.00 with the SB @4.95 because I have also upgraded to an SSD drive but I believe the impact of this move is rather modest on my FSX experience. The only think I am sure of is that FSX is much much smoother now.

4.95 David? mind you BCLK overclocking is not a good idea. You should leave it at 100

Well, that's what I thought initialy but after reading tons of info on different hardware forums I've tried unabling both HT and BCLK light o/c.Temps remain below 65C with FSX and around 38C idle. Sounds good so far..

Yes. I think that is what causes my 'poor' performance so I just disabled the street lights.
