Not impressed with my GTX480

Featured Replies

So far not impressed, using the latest drives and also tried the drivers with the cd, Im using W7 64 and have applied the ******* B=0 tweak but even without it I keep getting corrupted graphics and this crash nvd3dum.dll which I know is related to nvidia. I have reinstalled my drivers so many times in the last few hours and have even done a clean install of W7, I have disabled Data Execution Program. Clean installed FSX. I am at my wits end. Does anyone have a solution. Pleeasse.

did u try a clean cfg? To be hoesnt I went from a GTX 260 to the 480 and I didn't see a big difference in FPS in FSX, in COD and BFBC2 i did though. Run your fsx.cfg through this tool by the wayhttp://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Yes, remove the "******* B=0" tweak. It leads to very unstable things happening to your video card.

Does your card work well with other graphics-intensive games? Try testing with 3dMark and other benchmarking software to see if your ard is reliable. The one time I had strange issues with a new graphics card, I found out it was defective after much testing. Good luck!

What do I change the ******* B=0 back to in my CFG? I am also using the shader 3.0 mod and FS-Labs texture fix and the automatic cfg configured from http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

What card did you move to the 480 from? When I went from a 260 to the 570 late last year I had a lot of problems until I fully reformatted. I can't explain it but something just did not work right with the card both stability and performance wise until I started over with a clean Windows 7 install that had never seen anything except that card. It's been completely perfect since. Also, if you end up having to send the card back as defective or something, consider a 570 instead - it's faster than the 480 but runs much cooler/quieter and generates less heat and power draw.
