Ok I was just doing some TESTINGFORT LAUDERDALE/MIAMI AREA TESTObservation - It does lag on approach like before. I get 17 - 20 fps on take off and 20-44 when climbing then fps drop to 12-20 when approaching and landing at the airport. this was with FSDT scenery and UT2 set to 100%NEW YORK AREA TESTObservation - when I was taking off from KJFK it was 35 fps until the traffic injected it went to 12 - 20 fps and flying over to KLGA the fps is up and down between 12-25 , when I start approaching and landiing at KLGA I notice it start buffer or lag I saw the fps drop to 3 then after a sec to a min I saw it went up to 18 fps. I am wondering if its because of the traffic injection.NOTEThis test was done after I combine all of the suggestion my Fsx nurses and doctors suggested .THANKS.
Those FPS numbers your posted aren't uncommon for KFLL. The reason being at KFLL if you keep the scenery complexity sliders at Extremely Dense or Very Dense it will make the shipping cranes and cruise ships visible along the coast. So, if your approaching runway 9L or 9R you will get some FPS hit. Try KFLL again but set your scenery complexity slider at Normal or Dense and see if that improves your FPS there. BTW, this was brought up before on the FSdreamteam forum as to why KFLL got a little bit lower FPS and it was pointed out by Umberto that it was due to the shipping cranes and cruise ships which aren't optimized very well for FPS.In the New York area, your FPS seem to be inline with what your processor clock speed is. Keep in mind that New York City is one of the most FPS intensive areas in FSX as far as getting bad FPS. If your flying heavies into JFK try turning your scenery complexity slider down to Dense or Normal for that area since you probably wont need every single building in downtown NYC to be displayed anyway. Also, I get better FPS using FSDT's KJFK that I do using the default KJFK because it is optimized better. If you fly there a lot you may want to give their version a shot. Also, keep in mind that lowering the scenery complexity slider for the default KJFK will remove some of the jetways, however you can run FSDT's KJFk with scenery complexity slider set to Normal and it will retain all the jetways and building of the airport, but cut out some of the other stuff ouside of the airport and thus give you higer FPS. Lastly, for KJFK you could try using the UT2 hotkey to completely kill the traffic when your aproaching the airport to get more FPS, then once you land hit the UT2 hotkey to bring the AI back up, then you will have the best of both worlds, higher FPS on approach, and AI moving about once your on the ground and taxiing where FPS aren't so much of an issue.I dont know what clock speed your running but I assume its around 3.0ghz since your fsx.cfg indicats ProcSpeed=8906. Your going to have a hard time getting great FPS in New York if your running under 3.8 to 4.0 ghz and have your settings turned up to high.

What does the " ProcSpeed=8906" entry in the FSX.cfg do? I´ve never seen it in my one.

Best regards, Steffen

Great Explanatin-- and Thank you for your reply I am runnong at 3.3 Ghz and I think I can overclock to 4.0 but I dont know how to.wish someone can help me with that.I went to overclocking.net and they try to help me but they say my BIOS is kind of complicated

Do YOU think if I upgrade my video card to a Amd 6800 series , 6900s or any ATI cards that is higher than the ati 5770. will my performance in fsx improve-- because everyone is tell me go over to intel and NvidaPlease be free to suggest your video card and opinion. My budget is $300 right now.

I don´t want to discourage you but ATI is crap for FSX. They might be good for any other game but ATI and FSX is a real "no go"! They have mostly problems with high and comlicated but good looking AA settings.I would go for an EVGA GTX560TI superclocked (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130610) Seems to be a pritty good card for that money. if I would go out and get one, this would be my first choice. if you had more money, a GTX 580 would be the optimum but this card is with arround 500$ far out of your budget. But I think with the GTX 560 you will have fun.

It doesn't do anything and there is an entry in your cfg like that as well, most likely with a different value. All it is, is a measure of your processor speed when you create a new FSX.cfg. When I first installed FSX a few years ago on my rig before I overclocked it, I had a value like that. Once I over clocked and created a fresh cfg file, I know have a value of 11,000 something. You will notice that when you build a fresh cfg file that FSX does an auto config of your settings based on the the processor speed it see, hence the ProcSpeed=8906" entry. The faster the processor FSX sees, the higher it will set your sliders by default.

Yeah, I would go for an nVidia card as well. Open a new topic in the hardware forum and I am sure you will get a lot of suggestions which one would be good based on your budget. For a variety of reasons, it has been said many times that most ATI cards dont work well with FSX and that nVidia cards are the preferred option. In fact, if you look at most peoples sigs in the forum, you will notice that the majority run nVida cards. You should be fine to run any video card as long as your mobo supports/has a PCI-E 2.0 slot and you have a powerfull enough power supply. Keep in mind some of the latest and greatest video cards need at least a 600 watt or greater power supply, so depending on what you have now, you may need to upgrade. Also, while a new GPU might help somewhat, there is NO substitute for raw CPU clock speed!! Open a new thread in the hardware forum and I am sure someone could help you OC your rig a bit more that you have now provided you have sufficient cooling. In the mean time, lower your scenery sliders and cloud draw distance to pick up some additional FPS.

I also noticed that you have this line..TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=0i have this set to TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40i think this is a minimum setting as per Nick needham's fsx config tweak guide.try it and see if not reset it. cheers steve

What is the mystery?Your getting lower FPS in the NYC area which is one of the hardest hitting areas in FSX, plus your CPU clock speed really isn't fast enough to get really high FPS in that area. What happenes if you turn off all the shadows, set your cloud draw to 60 miles, turn of car/airport/boat AI, and set your scenery complexity slider to Normal or Dense? Surely that should help you gain some performance. Plus the fact that running AI in NYC is going to bring your FPS down a lot due to all the traffic at Laguardia and JFK. What type of FPS do you get if you kill all AI?Also are you using any cloud replacement textures by FEX or REX? If you are or are not try using the DXT versions, or search the Avsim library and see if anyone has made replacement DXT clouds for FSX if you dont have or want to buy REX or FEX.As an example, I was testing something the other day in that area and I had all AI turned off. I was flying the PMDG JS4100 around the FSDT version of KJFK and was maintaining 30 to 35 FPS with normal weather (some clouds, but not a storm), and I had the scenery complexity slider set to Normal, but since their airport doesn't really use that slider, it was still showing all the airport terminals and buildings.

I am my cpu speed is 3.9ghzI have rex 2.0 Overdrive I forget to say that and I turn off UT2 and its still going crazy - the fps this minute is 40 then 2.2 then 4.8 then jump bck up to 30 y its doing this
