500GB RAM
Sell of that RAM, and you'll have plenty of money to buy a computer! :( Seriously though, I would recommend an Intel processor and Nvidia GPU, but you still should get decent FPS with those specs... Your not trying to run FSX with sliders at full right are you? And by lag badly what do you mean? 20fps, 15fps, 10fps? Depending on the plane, I'd say 15-20 fps is about what you should get with settings up pretty high.

I am using the default prop plane when I am test fly and the sliders are not up. when the autogen sliders is on zero I still get the same issue. I dont know what fps im getting but the lag is just on approaching and airport . for example I was testing my computer - I had max settings and I flew in new york and it never lag until I was approaching the airport. So if I want to change my Gpu to nvidia and processor to intel I would have to change the whole motherboard - thats alot of money because i recently got that processor like 2months ago.

I question putting FSX on an external hard drive. I hope that it's with an eSATA (or better?) connection. I would think a USB connected hard drive would create a performance problem.

I had fsx installed on the internal or hard drive before I had it install on a external hard drive. and it was having the same problemI think its better than eSATA

Prior to doing Bojote;s cfg tweak did you setup your system per Nickn's guide?http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.htmlAlso this looks suspect in your FSX.cfg:[bufferPools]PoolSize=2097152Reject Threshold=98304RejectThreshold=131072UsePools=11st you have 2 Reject Threshold entries rather than 1, also from what I understand you either use 1 rejectthreshold entry OR use a bufferpool setting/size, not both. I could be wrong, but I am just using a rejectthreshold and not a poolsize entry. My section of that looks like this:[bufferPools]RejectThreshold=131072and that is it for the bufferpools section.Maybe you should delete or rename your fsx.cfg, let FSX build a new one, then run it thru Bojote's website. Keep in mind when you build a new one you will need to manually replace the SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft since I dont think FSX will automatically replace it.

Stop buying useless "utilities" like MultiCore Environment and Gamebooster too - those are not necessary and can actually hurt things.

For fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

What panel are you useing in the 757?Main, Retro,HD?..this has a noticable impacked on my system with that plane.I found the 'main' panel to be the easyiest on frames. But im not to covonced about the whole external drive thing, even though you say you had the same problem with an internal drive. You want the fastest tranfer rate possible and as your flying into a addon airport with lots of textures theres lots of files to transfer. If fsx cant load them fast enough, if will cuase lag. Also, try with the fps slider to unlimited or limited, and get rid of the shadow you have set (aircraft cast shadow on ground and itself ect) as that takes up some fps, as does lens flair.

I did red Nicks guide and I will try what you say

I never flew quality wings 757 since because of the problem

I didn't notice these earlier.AC_SELF_SHADOW=1AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1Set both of those to 0(zero)and that will save you some FPS as well. Also in the section below I noticed you had it set like this.[DISPLAY.Device.ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series.0]AntiAlias=1Mode=1440x900x16TriLinear=1Try this setting as long as you have AA set in your ATI panel.[DISPLAY.Device.ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series.0]Mode=1440X900X32Anisotropic=1Also is 1440X900 your native screen resolution? I'm not so sure I have seen a screen with that resolution. It should be set the same as what you use for windows. For example my native screen resolution is 1920x1080, so I set that resolution in both windows control panel as well as in FSX. Its important to keep those the same.Lastly, I noticed you had it set to 1440x900x16, with 16 being 16 bit. Change it to 32 for 32bit. You shouldn't notice any savings runnng in 16 bit and it can cause some texture banding. One more thing, it looks like you have been fiddling with the tweak settings in FSDT's Addon Manager. I wouldn't do too much fiddling with those tweak slider in their unless you know exatly what your doing. Especially if you run Bojotes tweaks first then go into Addon Manager and mess with the sliders it can erase or alter some of his sugggested settings.

My screen resolution is 1440X900 so I change the 16 to 322I delete the fsx cfg and let fsx create a new one then I run bojotes tool and change the scenerio that you tell me to change in the Display section.THANK YOU FOR HELPING

Ok I was just doing some TESTINGFORT LAUDERDALE/MIAMI AREA TESTObservation - It does lag on approach like before. I get 17 - 20 fps on take off and 20-44 when climbing then fps drop to 12-20 when approaching and landing at the airport. this was with FSDT scenery and UT2 set to 100%NEW YORK AREA TESTObservation - when I was taking off from KJFK it was 35 fps until the traffic injected it went to 12 - 20 fps and flying over to KLGA the fps is up and down between 12-25 , when I start approaching and landiing at KLGA I notice it start buffer or lag I saw the fps drop to 3 then after a sec to a min I saw it went up to 18 fps. I am wondering if its because of the traffic injection.NOTEThis test was done after I combine all of the suggestion my Fsx nurses and doctors suggested .THANKS.

You could also add this tweak to your FSX.cfg:[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1This will help you to get a better RAM usage.

Best regards, Steffen

Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

Observation - when I was taking off from KJFK it was 35 fps until the traffic injected it went to 12 - 20 fps and flying over to KLGA the fps is up and down between 12-25
There is your answer. Traffic settings are too high. All rigs are different, but it tends to be only i5/i7 users that can handle very high levels of AI without a hugh frame rate impact.

so I am going to lower the traffic and test it.
