April 16, 201115 yr Buddy -You're right. My messages above were getting into Ad Hominem, and that's wrong. I apologize.I'm a communications guy with a Masters in Health Policy. It can happen. If you've googled enough to know about my ###### thesis, then you know about the degree, too.Would be happy to debate healthcare finance with you among other topics, but as others have suggested, this probalby isn't the place. Perhaps we can get back to aviation- and Sully-related material here.Alan Ampolsk Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

Without further adieu to the delight of the haters (and the chagrin of the silent ), I'll sign off for good this time leaving me much more time to engage in my evil one man corporate overlording :(.Cheers too all! April 16, 201115 yr Ok guys... You all are right. Let's make every pilot with 500 hrs have a minimum of 100k per year. They can retire with full salary at 45. Then all the ramp guys get at least 60+ benefits. What do you suppose would happen to ticket prices. How many people do you think would buy those tickets relative to today? In Europe pilots flying for 'regional' airliines get paid more than those in the US, but tickets cost less, so again, you're just plain wrong. April 16, 201115 yr I agree flamin_Squirrel Here in australia we are getting cheap tickets and the ramp people are not on a bad wickett. And the airlines here still make a profit. but thing are changing i wish i could say for the better. April 16, 201115 yr I thought this thread was about how great sully was at flying the worlds biggest glider. It is, but a guy like Buddy is hard-wired to lose the plot if you mention someone like Bill Maher. April 17, 201115 yr
Pilot error is solved by training and technology (i.e. stick shakers) not salary and benefits. As Notorious B.I.G. said once: "Mo money, mo problems", so raising wages would likely increase stress, thus accidents...

You can't possibly be serious? Pilot error is caused by fatigue, when you are told to move to the New York base but still get paid 20k a year and have to live with your parents across the country in Seattle, that can be a problem. Pilots can't even get paid a proper living wage for the location they are based in. You argument isn't based on logic, it's merely based on the fact that you hate unions and hate your fellow citizens getting paid a proper salary. Not to mention training that wasn't done, because the company like them all try and cut costs in all areasIn fact, 1 in 2 pay federal income tax...

This argument is disingenuous. 1 in 2 people is dirt poor. Barely living above the poverty line. How you can turn the tables and blame them for their situation when there are literally no jobs available is a sign of greed getting in the way of logic.
