April 18, 201115 yr Hi JD and crew, I was just wondering what the development status was and possible release date were for RC5? Thanks much, Ed Kammerman
April 19, 201115 yr Yup, I'm starting to wonder if RC5 will be out before MS Flight. Since there is no guarentee of backward compatiblity, I doubt RC5 will work without some serious recoding and further delays to port if forward. It would be nice to get some time with RC5 and FSX before the era starts its transition to the next generation.I for one, will migrate forward to MS Flight as soon as it's available, just as I've done with all pevious versions of Flightsim. April 20, 201115 yr I was just wondering what the development status was and possible release date were for RC5?As Ronzie (the beta team member) writes:"RC5 will not be released in the near future. It has a long way to go."So, don't expect it to soon - probably not this year. It's only my personal opinion of course. best regards, Marcin best regards, Marcin
April 20, 201115 yr Commercial Member I for one, will migrate forward to MS Flight as soon as it's available, just as I've done with all pevious versions of Flightsim.I would, too, if "Flight" was indeed a new version of FlightSim. Unfortunately (for developers at least), as far as I understand from what is published so far, it will be completely different to FlightSim -- re-written from the bottom up. I really wouldn't expect there to be any add-ons for it for quite a while after release as everyone will be starting from scratch. I, for one, will almost certainly not be developing for it as I am now far too old to start again, and I have too much invested in both hardware (a full 737 cockpit) and software to start again in any case.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. It would be an interesting battle between MS Flight and X-Plane 10 on what the mainstream would go for which are due to be released at about the same time.I have a feeling MS flight would be more of an "Arcade" then real SIM.it would be intriguing to find out. April 21, 201115 yr if RC5 takes that long, wouldn't it be an alternative to release an RC 4.5 version ? I mean, RC4 is how old now, 7 years ? The callsign list is way outdated. So why not an RC 4.5, with more recent callsign list and some small enhancements (e.g. to the European phraseology, but that's just my point of view :) )Mike
April 21, 201115 yr It appears RC5 has some major problems if its taking this long to finish, RC5 must be the longest developement project in Flight Simulator history. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Radar Contact, but I think we need to be realistic the way things are going, RC5 will be released far too late to be of any use to the Flight Sim community.Glen Glen
April 21, 201115 yr I will let JD, answer what is being done with v5. However all these comments and speculations about release dates are really out of line, v5 will come when it is done and has NOTHING to do with MS Flight. In the mean time enjoy RC 4.3 like the rest of the team.Bob

I know it's against Yours policy, but don't you think, giving us even the very little piece of information - will cutt all quessworks?People have been waiting for RC5 for ages, they support it - and they'd like to hear even a scrap of news. Maybe little update of RC blog? The last news about RC5 is dated 21st of August 2009. best regards,Marcin best regards, Marcin
April 22, 201115 yr Personally, I put RC5 and the Level-D 757 projects in the same boat. Greatly desidred but so far, only trailers and teasers. Meanwhile, I've got a bunch more grey hair, and now old enough to realize, tomorrow is never gaurenteed. If it's that difficult to develope and only done on a "time permits" basis, perhaps it's time to add more staff. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
