Okay this thread is meant to be a Positron, which is the opposite of the electron which carries a NEGATIVE charge. Lets talk about all the positive things we've learned over the last couple of days!1. Ryan says everything is tracking just fine, and he and George told us they have been flying the NGX around having fun and sound really upbeat.2. Ryan has confirmed some repaints that people have asked about that aren't major operators of the jet. That's a great sign that all the major operators will surely be covered out of the box. 3. George gave us some great insights about the sound package, the lighting, the systems, and the overhaul realism of the NGX.In my opinion we got a lot of good exciting news this week. Agreed.I was about to say "isn't the opposite of an electron, a proton?"...and then I went to wikipedia and read up on positrons and antimatter and now my head hurts. Odd how I'll read about obscure aircraft-related things that make no sense to some and be fine with it, and when I read stuff about the finer points of chemistry, my brain hates me.

No no...a Positron is the opposite, in the context you are meaning. However within normal matter a proton carries a positive charge, it's antipartice is a (rather dull) anti proton...or negatron carrying a negative charge. There is a fascinating article on CERNs website regarding CPT symmetry.

Check out a movie called "The Quantum Activist". Two great books are "The Zero Point Field" and "The Intention Experiment". Basically It's a bunch of quantum physics, the math of which I don't get. I understand the concepts though. Basically your soul and counciousness are made up of matter and have mass. Just like everything else in your body. The thoughts running around in your head aren't made up of some cosmic massless ether. They are electrical signals made of electrons and protons and nuerons and whatever other sub atomic particles there are. Therefore they have mass and therefore they are physical things. So because of that cat that figured out conservation of energy or matter or whatever it is, matter doesn't just go away because you die. People have been measured after they die with super accurate scales, and mass is missing that cannot be accounted for in the gasses and liquids of the body. I know, wicked tough to get your mind around! This is the cutting edge stuff that science is just getting around to. Scientists have instruments and facilities now that can dectect the tiniest amounts of light, and they have used them to detect the light traveling between two living things. They have cut parts of living plants in half and dectected the light flowing between the two halves. They think some of this could explain the phantom pains that amputees feel after losing a limb. You'll just have to read the stuff. It sounds really fringe and far out but it's very real. There are so many phenomena in life that you experience that you chalk up to coincidence or chance that are real. Over the coming years new instrumentation and scientific techniques will reveal things to us about life and death and our daily interactions with our enviroment that will blow our minds. I for one can't wait. You know people used to think the Earth was at the center of the universe. They also thought the hurtling sphere that we live on was flat. Sometimes, I wonder if people in the future will find some of our satirical works (or otherwise sarcastically-inclined works), and not knowing the context, believe the piece was something we actually thought was true. I have a feeling we do that now to some of our ancestors. Sometimes, I think we all look at past societies as one-dimensional, as if back in the day they didn't have personalities, or senses of humor.

If you want your head to spin...look at non-linear electrical circuits. Feedback through circuits. 4th order dynamic differential equations. cosinusoidal forced differential equations. A simple problem takes about 2-3 pages of calculations. Finally my favorite. Analysis of differential equations and circuits in the imaginary plane. Makes you really appreciate phasor techniques and laplace transforms. All in a days work for an engineer.
