April 30, 201115 yr That could explain why I have the reverse problem (better frames with mouse cursor showing); I am running Windows XP Pro 32 bit.Regards, Mike MannI am running WinXP 32bits and have better frames with mouse cursor not showing, same way as OP (but without bloom).Looks like this isn't a Windows version related issue and some users have it reversed. May 1, 201115 yr Author I am running WinXP 32bits and have better frames with mouse cursor not showing, same way as OP (but without bloom).Looks like this isn't a Windows version related issue and some users have it reversed.Well, what's frightfully wrong with this picture, is that intuitively, I can't see the mouse pointer as fundamentally requiring huge processing overhead. You can run all kins of addons and alls well, add a mouse pointer and suddenly 40-50% loss in frame rate? This points to a conflict at some level that simply can't be explained by the impact on frame rate we are seeing with this. I will go from 30 to 40 fps w/ bloom on, to 18 fps when the mouse pointer is hovering over the main window in FSX. It is hugely relevant to me because I fly with one hand on the yoke and the other on the mouse quite often, for selecting switches and for mouse-look. Of note, I don't have to be in mouse-look mode to experience this issue, just need to have a mouse pointer not docked on a window, or one that has auto-disappeared. Now, I can fly w/ bloom and and still be locked at 30 which is remarkable indeed for this machine. And liquid smooth. Sure be nice is someone could nail down exactly why this issue exists and of course better yet if a cure could be discovered.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. July 30, 201114 yr I run Win XP 64 and get better performance with cursor inactive or off screen. (Bloom inactive) Has anyone found a clue what the cause is or how to eliminate that problem?
July 30, 201114 yr As far as I can remember it has to do with clickspots... the way they're modeled...the number.... who knows? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 31, 201114 yr I leave the grammar up to my wife... she's the english major !Completely off topic but to make you feel better: "mouses" is correct grammar when referring to electronic mouses. It's pretty common to remove the original word's origin's rules for pluralizing when that word is adopted to a technological thing. So you were actually correct :)
July 31, 201114 yr No problems with the mouse cursor here. You should make sure you have hardware accelerated cursor turned on (hardware acceleration set to full in the troubleshooting dialog of display settings) and make sure you're not using an animated cursor or one with lots of drop shadow. As for Bloom, it forces your video card to render everything twice. I prefer to keep bloom turned off and use the ENBSeries instead. -

August 1, 201114 yr Well...pretty much my problems is kinda weird...for 90% of the addons when the mouse points disappears everything works perfect...now with Maddog 2010 its pretty much the opposite...i gotta keep my Mouse point showing to get 30FPS no matter what...so far i cant find the way to make it work ;( My Youtube Channel (P3D/FSX/X-Plane Videos and much more!)
