Comet on the way

I wonder if it's £20 better than the nice David Maltby simulation. I'll wait to hear some reviews before risking it I think.
The problem with freeware stuff is that the VCs are usually very disappointing. A high resolution, highly detailed, "clean" looking VC is one of those components that is a basic requirement for me.
I'll stick a quick review up in this forum when I get it, which should be on the 3rd of next month since I pre-ordered it.
I assume you ordered the download version, otherwise it will be the 10th :( For the record, I have just ordered a copy of the boxed version.

Yup, it is the download I ordered, shame I won't get a box with that nice artwork, but I want the aeroplane more than the picture, so the DL it was.Al

I'm just fed up of making backup copies of hundreds of files, so I took the opportunity to give my USB pen drives a rest :(

Oh,what a nostalgic chord you touch with me when you talk about those planes that I serviced at Brize, and to still hear of them flying around my old base and to see them flying to date. And that is a timely request to make to JF as there is nothing other than the Addictive version,to do this wonderful plane, justice. I hope some developer does do that just as JF is doing with the Comet which I have ordered boxed version.

Well, Addictive's Comet is on hold, possibly because of the JF one now although that was not the reason it initially did get put on hold, Addictive's main dude, like many FS developers, has a daytime job as well, but Addictive may well decide to tackle something else if there is already a decent Comet out, and that could be a VC-10 if nobody else has one in the pipeline other than a soup-up of the old Addictive one. There are plenty of Brit old bangers that I'd like to see in FSX; Vanguard, Viscount, Britannia, 1-11, Trident, HS 748, Dove etc. And then there's the Frog ones too, Caravelle, Mercure. There's plenty to go at.Al

Like you I would love a new FSX ready VC-10. Such a beautiful aircraft. We were leaving Oxford in a small jet yesterday afternoon and saw one banking from base onto final RW26 at Brize. I still can't get over those beautiful flowing lines especially on the horizontal stabilizer. Lovely.

Same here. The Rick Piper HS748 is pretty good with nice sounds. The DM Trident is brilliant and worth a download if you want to fly an accurate simulation of one of our great British failures (blame the Boeing 727!). I really want a Caravelle..(with authentic smoke billowing from the engines) :(

I'll certainly agree with you there. My favourite aircraft of all time. David

It certainly is, but I wish that I could get a decent quality VC for it.

The problem with freeware stuff is that the VCs are usually very disappointing. A high resolution, highly detailed, "clean" looking VC is one of those components that is a basic requirement for me. IMHO, this is not the case with the Maltby Comet ( or Trident ) Both are outstanding planes and can be flown in VC so that no pop ups are required at all.All switches work, being accessible with Trackir, and in fact these two planes are now 99% of my FSX flying. I cannot see what JFs Comet can give me more than Maltby's If you haven't got Maltby's plane then it is available free-Best download I ever made. Thanks Mr Maltby. And, TBH, I don't see any realism in flying 2d cockpits with pop ups nowadays However, each to their own..
