Tyrone, first thanks for the updates on the T7.  I did find a font from Just Flight and now all 2d and VC panels appear to be functioning properly.  Still need a few more tests on the AP and FMC in a real test fight.  This is really good plane for FS9. It is a shame I didn't use it way back in 2006.

A POSKY VC?!!! Must be a miracle if you can get anything but the default 2D panel to work. I've battled for years - I take a yearly stab at installing a POSKY 777 - and yet to see a VC show.

I assume you are interested in an original POSKY aircraft w/ VC, not a PSS/POSKY merge.  If you are looking for a merge there are other threads on that.

 

To get the VC working in a POSKY aircraft you need the model w/ VC.  This is key: you must have a model that includes the VC.  On the following page you can find POSKY models including VC models.  Scroll down to the section labelled "VC" and choose the model(s) you need.

On that page are also packages called "Virtual Cockpit Panel SP2A" and ""XML Glass Gauges for 777",  The first will install the default FS9 777 gauges to the POSKY VC panel.  The second will install XML Glass gauges to the VC only.

 

Assuming you already have one or more POSKY aircraft installed, I suggest you start over with a new folder, as it is easy to mess up an existing folder.  Copy the contents of one of the aircraft to a new folder.  Remove the old aircraft folder from the FS9 aircraft folder to somewhere outside of FS9 (to avoid conflicts caused by two or more aircraft w/ the same name). 

 

Note, there are no VC models available for newer Skyspirit 777 models AFAIK.  If you use a Skyspirit aircraft as your starting point, you may have texture/display issues as there are some differences between Opensky and Skyspirit textures.

 

In the newly created aircraft's folder:

 

In the model folder, remove the existing ..mdl file and model.cfg file. Install the new VC model, which should have "VC" in the name and end in "mdl," and the new "model.cfg" file (which will point to the new ...mdl file w/ the correct model file name).

 

Delete the panel folder.  Copy the panel folder from the "Virtual Cockpit Panel SP2A" into the new aircraft's folder, per its instructions.  If you want the xml glass gauges, install the XML glass gauge package per its instructions.  (You need to do this last as the XML glass gauge package is missing some necessary panel sub-folders).  After you have installed the first panel package, I suggest you load the aircraft and see if the VC displays and is working.

 

Once you have it working, you can try installing one or more of the sets of VC textures available on the above page or on this thread, if you like.

I assume you mean the stock PSS 777-300ER VC.

 

My clock looks fine in the VC, and matches the cockpit background color.  The switches don't work in the VC, although the display does.  Clicking on the gauge brings up a popup version where the switches do work. 

 

All versions of the PSS 777 share the same panel, so I'm a bit surprised it is only a problem in the -300ER.  Have you modified the panel.cfg file?

Thanks for responding Mike. Yes it's driving me batty because it's just in the 300ER and they share the same cockpit folder. It's a terrible eyesore and I don't even have a theory about what could be different....see the pic earlier in the thread you get a chance...thanks again.

Edit: First take a look at my next post, below.  I think it's a more likely solution.

 

Really a long shot, but is it possible you somehow have a clock gauge (or package of gauges) either in the panel folder of the 300Er (which should be aliased to the 7704 folder) or in the panel folder in 7704?  The gauge would have to have the same name as the correct one.  FS9 looks first in the panel folder, then in gauges, for any given gauge.

 

Also, make sure the panel.cfg file in the 300ER panel folder (and the ones in 777-200ER & 777F folders) is in fact pointing to the panel folder in 7704.

 

Edit:

One other thing: do you load a stock Cessna before you load a PSS T7, and do you start up in 2D cockpit mode?  Not doing either of these can cause problems (though I've never encountered this one!).

 

We are talking about a stock installation of all the PSS 777s, right?

Another thought:  I was just looking at the textures for the 300ER.  Even though the 300ER shares the panel w/ the other 777s, there are textures for the 2D panel in the texture folders in the 300ER folder. 

 

So, I am wondering if perhaps there is a texture for the VC in some or all of your 300ER texture folders?  A related question: does this happen with all 300ERs or only certain ones?  If the latter, see if there is something odd about the 300ER texture folders for those liveries where it does happen.  For example, is there an extra texture there, especially one that starts w/ "vc..."?  There is no such texture checking in some of my 300ER texture folders.

 

The 777 panel uses textures both in the 300ER texture folders and in the 7704 texture folder, and I'm pretty sure the 300ER ones override those in the 7704 texture folder if there are duplicates.

Any luck fixing the clock issue?  Did you check to see if you have a vc texture that includes the clock in one of the 300ER texture folders?

I found another download that had the VC and it worked. Couldn't really understand your instructions either. A little confusing plus I couldn't find the 'SP2A' panel in Poskys download section. And the -300 variant I downloaded said it was for FSX and I couldn't see how to differentiate what's fs9 and what's FSX. Extremely confusing.

 

The POSKY/Skyspirit people make very good freeware aircraft.  Unfortunately it is a bit confusing to figure out which model goes with which panel and which livery.

 

The following package looks like it has a -300ER with VC and panel to go with it, and includes the glass gauges.  It should be fairly easy to install.

You can tell if a model has the VC because "VC" will be included in the name of the model file.  You can tell if the model is for FS9 or FSX by the name of the model file; models for FSX will have "OSX" or something similar in them.  Here is a link for POSKY -300ER models that I didn't send before:

You will see by scrolling down that there are two VC models for the -300ER, one w/ a large cargo door, one without. 

 

The previous link did have the VC models for the 200 variants as well as links for the panel packages, if you scroll down further.

 

I agree that 4-5000 fpm climb w/ full load is too fast.  There are several POSKY FDEs available on this and other web sites -- try SP-G, or SP-D (SP-D is available on the web site for which I provided a link earlier), or see how the above package works for you.  I haven't used OPENSKY stock VCs for a long time, just merges of the PSS panel w/ the POSKY model, so I'm not up on how well the basic POSKY VC works.

The 300ER texture folders have no VC textures...only the different paint schemes...VC textures are shared...

 

The clock gauge just needs to come forward a millimeter as the backround is bleeding through...I can move it in every direction except forward and back...but it still doesn't explain why it's just with the ER...

What could possilbly make the clock gauge bleed into the backround on just the 300ER version but no others..i swapped out the pss clock gauge for the stock t7 gauge and it bled too...and just on the 300 er... i went back and forth between the Birtish Air 200 and 300 and again...problem just on the 300...what in the world is the difference?

I have a custom one I made myself. I can't vouche for it's realism as I've never flown a 777, but it seems far closer to reality than the standard. PM me for details.
