May 25, 201115 yr Author is it worth waiting for ivy bridge then or get sandy bridge Alexander Shepherd
May 26, 201115 yr If you're already running a 1366 system, then I might wait. Otherwise, definitely go Sandy Bridge! May 26, 201115 yr While it is entirely possible that IVB may not launch until Q2 '12, I would be more inclined to believe this if it were from *anyone* else. Fudzilla has about as poor of a reputation for reliability as any "journalism" site could have.
May 26, 201115 yr This? Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
May 26, 201115 yr Perhaps, I'm still inclined to go with the previous version of that slide though, which simply states "1H '12" as seen here.Keep in mind Intel processor release dates are subject to change, often being pulled forward a quarter or more due to market conditions. If 22nm is ready to go soon and Bulldozer puts pressure on Intel, they can start pumping out low-price 22nm IVB chips to compete with mainstream performance AMD offerings and leave SNB-E to clean up the high end.
May 26, 201115 yr If you're already running a 1366 system, then I might wait. Otherwise, definitely go Sandy Bridge!I respectfully disagree. Had a i7 930 @ 4.3 GHZ and found the jump substantial to SB. Well worth doing in my opinion by a wide margin.Kind regards,

Well worth doing in my opinion by a wide margin.Kind regards,Hard to fathom, considering what I am running. Tell me if you will, if you defined performance roughly as smoothness + image quality/texture update rate + frame rate, how much of a 'performance increase' do you feel you still can benefit from? Aren't you looking at close to pretty much excellent performance in all areas, after which there is a real point of diminishing returns? I can pretty much see where I can improve, but even so I seem to have great performance in all but the nastiest situations, and it would seem you must be hitting at least 200+ percent of what I already enjoy. That makes me think you must be already at that point, of diminishing returns, no?Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Well worth doing in my opinion by a wide margin.Kind regards,Well to compare both you should run them at the same speeds lolCurious what your FPS is with all sliders to the right except cars/boats/ etc at EHAM Aerosoft with 100 % AI and a detailed 3 party add-on aircraft? It seems when you ask this question in this forum it becomes suddenly silent lolThat will give me a good idea what to expect when making the SB jump... André
June 3, 201115 yr I made two small video the other day when I was testing, taking off from KORS, all sliders to the right, cars at 20%, AI full load, nothing fancy cause I was just testing, no editing, I used fraps, the small stutterings you'll see are cause by fraps...I did not have any when testing.
June 4, 201115 yr This? What, I´m "Mainstream Performance"!? Where´s my credit card, I wanna be "Premium Performance"! :Big Grin:Well, just kidding. I´m very happy with my Mainstream Performance CPU. SB is the way to go now. Corey said it right. If you allready have an 1366 CPU, it´s useless. But if you´re on good ol´775 (like I was) SB is lightyears ahead. Each was a large performance stepup in frames, quality and smoothness. If you want to know how it compares with what you presently have, consult the results of the FSXMark 11 setup at the top of this Hardware section:https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AuiXjW8fJyDrdC1KZm5fSlJYdnJBaXRRclFuU0U3WUE&hl=en&authkey=CMSSocoI#gid=0Kind regards,
