Actually, I believe that "wingnut" may actually be a previous, highly active member of AVSIM, who's had to re-register since the great website meltdown...

...Go back and search for the DX10 preview and the outcome of that. Seems you have a very bad memory or you somehow choose to forget it.
:) And here’s me thinking it was the peanut gallery that couldn’t grasp the concept of concept art.Don't worry We're all in the peanut gallery here :(

I thought the username looked familar. Though, there is nothing to say they are one and the same person, yet.

Oh yes n4gix. The guy who (in the presence of Mike 'tdragger' Gilbert) called ACES management: "corporate wolves" and "bean counters". How can I forget?!

Sounds pretty accurate, although I would have applied it slightly higher up the management chain myself (ie to the MGS managament and marketing folks above ACES - Yes, ACES was always part of MGS, that isn't something new for Flight).Tim
The graphics engine code should use the video card. But this is not the case with FSX. You can have the latest super fast video card but it makes no difference. It is CPU bound. One thing I did was build a cheap PC with a lowly Intel E5200, 2gb ram, 500GB HDD. But I put a HD4770 video card in which was a 'decent' one at the time, but still quite cheap. I found I could play the latest games and get great graphics usually on medium-high settings. Take for instance HAWX. You could have a multi-player online dogfight and with stunning graphics! You don't even need to display the FPS because its always so smooth! No stutters. And other games too like Crysis had excellent graphics on med-high settings. Obviously these games were coded properly to use the graphics card, as it should. Can only hope the MS Flight engine will be similar.
It will be look below, (SLI compatibility bits (DX10) for Flight and guess what it does look like MS will throw a little something at FSX also, look like a patch to be able to use SLI (SLI compatibility bits), FSX was never implement to be able to use SLI before...dxX.png666.png

Actually Tim, my "aim" was higher than Mike... MUCH higher and for the most part aimed at the corporate suits then occupying the MGS's ivory tower!I most certainly laid no blame whatever on the nice folks at ACES, who for the most part were just as disgusted with the situation and quite probably even more so!I take no comfort knowing that those self-same corporate suits are now "fully in charge..." :(

Why would they issue a patch so a 5 year old game can use SLI?
Hummmm! maybe to offload the CPU a little so we can run FSX a little better, FSX is not dead yet and developers will keep making add-ons for it until the market tell them other wise.I'm just showing what is in Nvidia Inspector, I'm sure it's there for a reason, I mean why will they show FSX SLI in Nvidia Inspector if they have no intention of implementing it? I'm sure these guys have better thing to do than just playing around with Inspector control panel....

Chapstick, don't worry, nothing is being done to FSX to patch it for SLI. It is just some smoke and mirrors, just like DX10 for Win XP.

Maybe, maybe not... :(

I don’t believe a game/application has to be coded to implement SLI. I think SLI is in the drivers, the OS application interface is between the drivers and the game/application. I think what you are seeing in Nvidia Inspector is akin to configuration files. There would be no need to patch a game in order to set up a configuration for it.

Quote" NVIDIA has created a set of custom video game profiles in cooperation with video game publishers that will automatically enable SLI in the mode that gives the largest performance boost. It is also possible to create custom game profiles or modify pre-defined profiles using their Coolbits software." end of quoteHere, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface#External_linksA game need to be SLI supported, here is the list.. http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone2_game.html as you can see from this list Flight is not there yet, you can also make a profile for a game. http://www.slizone.com/page/slizone_appprofile.htmlI hope this answer your question.
A game need to be SLI supported, here is the list..
A game does not need to be written specifically to support SLI. Here is a qoute from your own link. "NVIDIA® SLI technology can be enabled for every gaming application." This means you enable SLI yourself.Further qoute "... In addition, to provide the optimal 'out-of-box' experience, NVIDIA has created an extensive set of over 500 custom application profiles which enable SLI technology automatically..." which means you don't have to enable SLI yourself, Nvidia will enable SLI automaticaly when it detects a gavme in its profile."...and optimize scaling performance." which means Nvidia will configure itself to give best results for a particular game using tested settings. This does not mean a game will not run if it does not have a profile."These optimized applications, shown below, are enabled automatically with no control panel changes required. " Again, all this means is you don't have to enable SLI yourself, if the game is on the list. If it is not on the list there is nothing stopping you from enabling SLI yourself. An application does not care how many video cards are being used to handle the graphics it is sending.
