Airbus A320

Featured Replies

Hi all,After trawling the net I'm still not sure what's the best Airbus for FSX.I'm looking for something that correctly models the FMGS.Has anyone got any ideas? Had looked at Wilco deluxe or evo but not sure if they're fully modelled. Thanks for any help.

Oh, Alan is already writing something. Brace for impact! (of much useful information) ^_^Wilco still is the best idea when it comes to the MCDU details, but the whole package hasn't that much value in 2011. Maybe patience or some cheaper external model with e. g. VasFMC is the even better idea then.

You best hope is the Flight Sim Labs one that is currently in development See link:http://www.flightsimlabs.com/The Wilco one is okay, but it doesn't do a great job of everything in terms of accurately simulating all the systems on the real aircraft, and some people have even said it is actually better without the Evolution Upgrade. Nevertheless, it is about the best Airbus you can currently get for FS, which would not be true if the Airsimmer (FS9 only at the moment) one was not as glitchy as it presently is.So, you could either, take a chance on the Airsimmer version, or get the Wilco one, or wait for the FSL one. There is also the Aerosoft one, but it is an extremely 'lite' treatment of the Airbus, as indeed is the Just Flight one, so neither of those is likely to be what you want. An intermediate option that flies quite nicely would be the CSL ones.If I were you, I'd get the Wilco one if you can find it cheap as an interim measure, and then await the FSL one.Al

And if you just want something else instead of any Boeing, consider the Embraers from Feelthere for example. They come with great FMC detail and offer some nice perspective when looking for some diversification in the sim. Still a current and high value package there.

Hi Al.Once more, thanks for this HU as I too am looking for a good A320 and having baulked at purchasing all versions and products from various developers that is currently available, and moreover already owning their excellent Concorde X,this was just the news I wanted to read.

I've got to say, give the Aerosoft bird a go. As Alan says, it's lite with a capital L. BUT, the exterior and VC lighting is amazing. Just taxiing around at night with the pools of light visible outside and the soft glow of the cockpit lighting inside is simply brilliant. It flies about ok on the AP. And you can even fly it manually after a fashion, so it WILL get you to your destination. Meanwhile you can revel in the look of the thing. Especially at night!Aerosoft are also working on an upgrade to the MCDU and revamped FBW, which it badly needs, so it may well end up as a very reasonable simulation in the end.As a real Airbus fan I've had all the various offerings over the years, and I'm waiting for the FSL one as well. But I'm glad I took a punt on Aerosoft despite the horror stories on their support forum. It's buggy and lite for sure, but definitely a thing of beauty. So if you can suspend your desire for a solid, detailed simulation for a bit longer, you may enjoy it as much as I am. Ian

Will probably end up going for Wilco as don't want lite version. I'd wait for FSL but it may not even be out this year. Can't believe Airbus is so hard to model correctly. :(

I have the Wilco set up perfectly now. If you apply all the Service Packs, program it and fly it correctly it runs fine with no evidence of the problems so many report (eg it takes the glideslope fine)I recommended you enhance it with the following;TSS Airbus soundset (pay)FS2Crew (pay)Proper Airbus GPWS callout sounds (free)improved VC lighting (free)I have been flying it exclusively since I set it up like this and it has been a pleasure.

I don't think the complaints about the Wilco 'Bus are so much that the it does not work, rather that it doesn't work as much like an Airbus as they would like it to. But I agree, it does fly fine for what it is if you set it up right, I even leased one for use on Air Hauler, and anyone who knows Air Hauler will be well aware that you'd be insane to stick an aircraft in your fleet that didn't work well.Al

To give you an idea of what to expect from the Wilco A320 package, here's a video (Full Flight) I recently did with the Wilco A319 from KLGA to KDCA. You can pick the incockpit portion up at 14:25 into it, if you don't want to view the externals. (Which are actually Project Airbus models, which I highly recommend, as the Wilco externals are not that great) Also note this is not with the Evolution upgrade. My system specs are an E6850 @3.0Ghz 4GB mem, and a 9800GTX card.

Thanks

Tom

Those of you who have flown Concorde-X will have an idea of what to expect from our Airbus. I've been 'Flight Simming' for over twenty years, and I've never seen anything of this calibre developed before; the engineering that is going into this title is remarkable. You won't be disappointed.

Are you guys still in early stage development?
