How does this stack up against ASE?
Wow, what a question! :( ASE is payware and has a lot of optionsFXreal is free and has a lot less optionsGraphically (clouds) I dont see any difference but I use FSX for those.I really don't want to get into more detail as everyone has their own opinions, but it's free so nothing to lose by trying it.

I use it now because I can run it off of a client PC in my network. That makes its footprint very small. I tried to get ASE going with simconnect and could never get it going. This is not bad at all.K

Is there a document that explains how to do this? Thanks.edit: I found a half way tutorial "how to simmconnect" in the avsim library here. I guess what I need to know is what port does FS Weather Lite use and how do I add it to my simmconnect.xml?

Bah nevermind... looks like I won't be using the program anyway - there's a major flaw with a lot of these programs. In the US the metars only report up to 10SM of vis. That means the vis is always set to 10 miles in FSX. Totally not realistic...

The 10 mile visibility report does not set visibility to 10 miles. The proper programs know that this is unlimited visibility, unless limited by other adjustments.

Yeah I guess I was referring to the 2 other freeware ones I've tried: Open Clouds and another one can't remember the name.I might have to invest in your ASE someday pff! Can it run over the network through simconnect?

I have flown this and had visibility from basicly unlimited to darn near 00, so I am not sure what you are referring to.

Hi,Yes. That is only way way I have ever had it setup. Bob.. :)

It's a great little program and free. For low altitude/short flights I use it instead of ASE as it loads more quickly and uses less cpu/ram.

I ran the program, using SimConnect as the interface, and the METAR stated 10SM vis, and my visibility was 10 miles in the game, until I climbed above the standard FSX "haze" layer around 6000ft. The weather was clear yesterday last I look outside my window lol.
