July 7, 201114 yr Author A difference, compared to what? Compared to non-OCd?And with what kind of video card?Bert, No not compared to OC'ed , sorry my mistake i did not post the main stuff, When in Fsx , i startup the taskmanager just to see the loads on the cpu, then i went to the fsx process and then to Set Affinity mask and deselected one of the cores and i tell you i did not notice any difference in either FPS or terrain processing even on the single core which should have dropped my performance on the single core, then again selected both the core's and still the same performance. I do know that FSX has been coded badly and currently there is no perfect system to run it @max. Hey i am ASHAMED TO NAME my card , it is not a gaming card it's an ATI HD 5450 1GB but bugdet's been tight right now to afford a higher end card but this card performs very well in FS9 with all sorta addons. July 7, 201114 yr My experience is that FSX really doesn't 'come on song' until about 4Ghz with dual cores.I can JUST get my E6850 up to 4Ghz, but not at all stable at that in FSX and not at 1:1 ratio with RAM, so I have to settle at 3.8 Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

It's also about quality of parts. Your E5700 is a 3ghz Pentium dual core. A 3ghz Core 2 Duo (E8400)will be a much faster cpu for FSX. No need to be ashamed of any of your equipment. The fun is learning how to make what you have work as best it can. If you do upgrade you will learn more about what makes a difference.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

It wasn't until the ATI HD 5800 series, that performance levels improved vs NVIDIA cards. The key to good performance in FSX is a card with a high Video Memory Bandwidth. At least the level of an 8800GT or 9800GTX. My system is a E6850 3.0Ghz 4GB with a 9800GTX card, and I generally get good (Not great like an I7) performance. That's without Over clocking, (Dell locks that out). You can see in my videos, the performance I get. (add about 2FPS without the video software GameCam) Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

I may not use any add ons except maybe a couple of birds. Can you recommend any GFX card like a 8800GT or an ATI ?Could you post the video links? July 8, 201114 yr Take a look at my computer specs in my signature below, AMD dual core @3.6ghz with an ATI HD5870, hardly state of the art, yet I get between 20 and 40 fps smooth no stutters or micro-pauses by using Bojote's cfg tweaks and NO frame rate limiting what so ever. All ancilliary utilities like FSInn, Plan-G etc and including saitek panels and SPAD software are connected to FSX via a networked laptop. We're told that it ios the CPU that is the limiting factor rather than the vid card, but I get on very well with my ATI HD5870. However, lore has it that nVidia ia best for FSX - so maybe (?) get the best nVidia card you can afford?

As to Nvidia yes i have heard that FSX is better with Nvidia due to the .dds file format. But if anyone can suggest me a NVidia card (mid-range) .In your Post i have noted about Bojote's cfg tweak, i got it and changed mine, i cannot believe it i am pulling 30-10-30-70-90-91.6 FPS but there are stutters. Wow thanks a lot dude. And to top it off everything is on MAX except the traffic, for that i can use WOAI. AND HEAR THIS IT IS WITH THE ENB-SERIES MOD, can just say wow. I would go with NVIDIA cards, that have a Video memory Bandwidth of 70Gb/s or greater. The 9800GTX is one, as is the 8800GT, Those are the older cards. The newer GeForce cards are probably even better, but be careful, there are also lower end cards in those series, that will cause the same problem. So for the GT2xx series, I wouldn't go for anything less then a GT260, Stay away from the GT3xx series, for GT4xx series anything above the GT450, and for the GT5XX series anything above the GT550. You can see my videos from the link in my signature below!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

Now all my settings are at max except the traffic, yes it is a bit choppy due to the fluctuating FPS but then i locked the FPS @27 and the choppiness has reduced tremendously. July 8, 201114 yr Author GTX460 would be my recommendation. Great "mid-range" card.Use nvidia inspector to set 8XSQ AA and 16XAFbert, I was already looking at the GTX460 :), but now after using Bojote's tweaks i am pulling @ almost max 30-40 fps on my current card :). I was a fool not to have registered at this forum a few years ago. My Autogen is set to very dense terrain is 1M. But i still like my FS9 with lotsa addons. Thnx guys for all help.
