MD-11 Autoland, taxing left

Featured Replies

On my last couple of flights, after the MD-11 auto lands. When I start to taxi, the aircraft tries to turn to the left constantly.Retracting Flaps, turning off auto-brake and making sure the spoiler is not deployed doesn't make any difference. Overriding autopilot as a precautionary measure doesn't make a change either. There is no indication of faulty systems either.Has anyone else experienced this?

I take it you have disconnected the autopilot. If that doesn't work, try centering the rudder.

It doesn't make a difference.I'm going to try two flights, one manual landing and the other auto land. I'll report back when i've got results.

Hi Capt-T-Will,Yeah i had the same once, and i think you will find you have to disconnect the Autopilot before you try and turn off the runway.Good luck,

Yes I have. After landing and AP disconnect go to external view and look at the back of the aircraft, take a close look at the rudder. A couple of times after auto land I noticed the rudder was not centred. I know I did not make any adjustments myself to this during flight but not sure if this happens automatically in AP mode. This may be your issue as well so worth checking. John

Disconnect your usb device and reconfigure your controls in fsx.

I has happened to me several times, but I found that disconnecting auto-pilot via the override switches on the MCP does the trick for me. Only problem then is the continuous nagging "Autopilot!" alarm.Hope this helpsLin

Set a command to disengage the A/P and press twice. That will silence the A/P warning.

It was the rudder.

Glad you got it sorted. For me it happened if the joystick was used before A/P disconnect and haven't seen the issue since.

Seen it happen, smells at times to be like an Autopilot not being disconnected properly. You can try disconnecting it a few times, or pull the AFDS (Those two buttons above the autopilot disconnect on the FCP.)Those will override ANY autopilot input.

I have had exactly the same problem this week -then noticed it was with other PMDG products-however when I tried even default planes the same thing occurred- after hours of trying to solve the problem even including resetting my defaults and recalibrating my Wingman from within FSX nothing worked and I was then convinced it was a faulty Wingman controller that I had recently dropped on the floor. To make a long story short I disasembled the hand controller and found that there was nothing inside that I could rattle, do or fix so I reasssembled it and and was resigned to having to buy a new one- after plugging it back in the computer lo and behold it works fine-no problems at all-conclusion the floor drop must have uncalibrated something in the game controller and it got reset simply by unpluging it and plugging it back in to the computer. It was thatr simple. All my planes now go straight down runways again instead of off to the grasss on the left.
