August 1, 201114 yr Hi just a quick one haven't seen anyone post this question up...I'm guessing there's been no reported issues with the dreaded s-turns and wind problems using ASE weather engine (DWC enabled)?????? Running i5-9600K @ 4.8ghz - 32GB DDR4 3200mhz - GTX 3070.
August 1, 201114 yr I have never experienced S-Turns in J41 or MD11 (can't say for 747) so I don't expect them in NGX. The only exception is ASE DWC+FSUIPC with some specific features turned on. If you're experiencing S-Turns try fallowing settings in .ini (with those settings you don't need additional smoothing and you can enable turbulence effect in FSX): SuppressCloudTurbulence=YesUpperWindGusts=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=YesSuppressWindVariance=YesWindTurbulence=NoSuppressAllGusts=Yes Don't worry that you will loss some effects, they still will be there thanks to ASE.
August 1, 201114 yr The setting that fixed my S-turns in the 747 is to just simply go into the FSUIPC window in FSX, Winds tab, and tick supress these wind effects: Turbulence. THat's really all I had to do, and I still have turbulence! Regards, Renzo Marcus
August 1, 201114 yr Author Never had drama's with the J41. But the LevelD 767 does it and so did my former Majestic Dash 8. Not gonna get a registered FSUIPC just got the unregistered version. Running i5-9600K @ 4.8ghz - 32GB DDR4 3200mhz - GTX 3070.

Thank you! I was starting to get really annoyed that my 747 started making 45+ degree S-turns LOL.. Then forcing it back on track and hand fly it for awhile during cruise.. That's not cool haha.. Gonna have to check it out Thomas Danielsen - FAA Commercial Pilot, JAA ATPL
August 1, 201114 yr I hope it will work for you as good as it works for me, please let me know if it does :) Regards,
August 1, 201114 yr I've found that disabling the Turbulence within FSX is fine as ASE will give its own turbulence due to wind etc... and along with the wind smoothing options I have no problems with any PMDG aircraft Cheers, Tim Tim Mitchell FSLabs Beta Tester / Support
August 1, 201114 yr Hi, I am sorry but I don't understand in what .ini should I set this : SuppressCloudTurbulence=YesUpperWindGusts=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=YesSuppressWindVariance=YesWindTurbulence=NoSuppressAllGusts=Yes Thanks for your help Pierre Laine
August 1, 201114 yr Commercial Member I've found that disabling the Turbulence within FSX is fine as ASE will give its own turbulence due to wind etc... and along with the wind smoothing options I have no problems with any PMDG aircraft Cheers, Tim No Tim. I think ASE presently triggers the turbulence intensity level inside FS (0 to 5 if I remember correctly). Pseudo - random wind data mimicking turbulence are still generated by FS. While testing the NGx I found an "interesting feature". The FS sim engine in order to simulate heavy-ish turbulence and aircraft "displacement" effects simply appears to cut off, internally, the effectiveness of control surfaces (rendering thus the airplane almost helpless). It is like flying in vacuum... Just get rid of that turbulence and thermal effects "feature". It is OK for small planes but highly inaccurate for airliners. ==================================== E M V Precision Manuals Development Group ====================================
August 1, 201114 yr It's been posted in the past month and the team did answer along with some of the same fine suggestions listed here. It is possible that you could still get S-Turns without applying some of the suggestions. Different things work for different set-ups so there is not a one size fits all solution!
August 1, 201114 yr Pochi, the .ini referred to is the FSUIPC4.ini in the Modules folder within your FSX installation. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
August 1, 201114 yr Thanks RudiJG1! Can I add those line to the FSUIPC4.ini as I have the free version and those are not currently in? Pierre Laine
August 1, 201114 yr Grzegorz, it works beautifully. I just finished a 6 hour 15 min. flight in the 747 having even greater winds than normally (up to 120 kts, and 90 kts xwind) without any "incidents". So it must have worked. Thanks Thomas Danielsen - FAA Commercial Pilot, JAA ATPL
