widesreen mode switching to 4:3

Featured Replies

It looks like the default screen for the NGX is wide screen. Does anybody know where the setting is to make it 4:3 mode. As I only have 4:3 monitors? I hope to get a wide screen soon. Many thanks Julian

It is in the introduction manual. Page 12. You need to edit FSX.CFG.

The mentioned FSX.cfg entry is only for for people who have a widescreen. FinnJ

I couldn't see anything about 4:3 screens?I have just letter boxed it, by pulling down the panels. But I bet there is a better way of doing this. Obviously I'm in the stone age with my monitors.LOL.gif

I have a problem the other way around. I have no Wide Screen monitor and I have WideViewAspect=False in the fsx.cfg, but it seems as though the 2D panels should fit a wide screen, the panels all seem squashed into the display, any ideas?

Maybe the answer lies in the panel.cfg. I will try looking at it and compare to the default 737...i know its very different but i will look for clues there.

Well it does say widescreen, I guess one of the developers can ring in and help out in this subject. Although i think it was made for widescreens and may not be a simple edit though.

Well wide screen is the future. Maybe there isn't a 4:3 option?

I would make a backup of the panel.cfg and change the numbers in within Window_Size=. BE VERY CAREFUL and make sure you make a copy of the panel.cfg if you move anything thing. The first number should be horizontal and then vertical verify with another panel though. If you have no experience with editing settings within .cfg files i wouldn't move a thing and wait for someone to shed some light here. Again as i am unable to fiddle with the plane at the moment, i can only hint clues from what i've done before myself.

It seems a bit heavy going. Having to go into CFG file to change bits of code to make this and that wok. With the MD11 there was a option widescreen or not. Oh well I guess I must get a wide screen monitor, and get with the times, to solve this problem.

As I understand it the 4:3 panel has not yet been implemented but it is coming.

Will that come about the same time the 6700 package, or we will get it faster than that?
