Nvidia Inspector brings FSX to its knees...

Featured Replies

Ive used nvidia inspector in the past to override FSXs AA & AF, no matter where I am or what aircraft - I get 10FPS (20FPS if im lucky!).. Now I know my system is not master of the dark arts, but was would this be? My CPU can achieve 25+FPS with the NGX at standard AA & AF, but when I turn nvidia inspector on - thats the end of my FPS! Would this be a issue with my CPU or GPU? If its my GPU - what would you recomend upgrading to... if its CPU - ill just build a entire new system in a few months.

Maybe do a driver re-install and see if that clears it up for you. Do other AA modes set Via Inspector work for you? Jim

What do you mean about "turning nvidia inspector on"? You set the profile and turn it off... then go fly.

Applying the settings that override FSX and then using them in the simulator.

Maybe you are selecting settings that your system cannot handle.. give us some details, and we may be able to help..

What is interesting is that nviidia inspector uses the same settings and info as the nvidia control panel - only it is more comprehensive, so it could be driver setting related. Is it worth reverting to an earlier stable drive for the 9800 series that still works with nHancer? In my experience the latest drivers and nvidia Inspector work better with the Fermi architecture cards ie GTX 4xx 5xx.Just a thought.PeterH

My settings that ive tried using: 8xS.jpg Drivers im using are GeForce 275.33 WHQL.

I think those settings are too high for your GPU. In some situations (bad weather with add aircraft with add on airport) you will see a slow down and/or stutters. Change antialiasing mode to "enhance application setting" and disable transparency supersampling. If that doesn't help, change to 4xS anti-aliasing and finally reduce texture filtering. I have kept the same system for 3 years and upgarded my graphics card 3 times (3x8800GTX to 2xGTX285 to 2x460GTX SLI) and each time performance went up and the ability to run higher quaility graphics settings increased. GPU's DO make one a real difference to FSX. Steve

Your screen shot shows your are using 266.58 driver. Is your card overclocked? If it is, relax the overclock and see. Jim

Hi I have a GTX580, 8 GB , Sandy Bridge 2600. My settings are similar , except 4X Multisampling, which is in off: FSX and PMDG NGX work fantastic. Here´s a pic before the ac engage the localizer for the 4R in Boston Logan. 1920X1200X32; FPS between 35-55 in VC:

@Steve would you suggest a GPU upgrade? My systems performing rather well, and I was considering an upgrade at the end of the year - but may pass and just upgrade to a 560 Ti or similar. @Jim- They are the settings at the PMDG forums that I am trying to apply, im on drivers 275.33 and no OC.

The 9800GT is dated - I had a 8800GT (basically the same thing), I had to run 4x AA in inspector. A 560ti would be a good match for your current system.

Yes, I would upgrade. Anything at or above 460 GTX will allow you to crank up the graphics settings, depends on what you can afford to spend right now. The 560 Ti would be a good balanced choice. Steve

Just tried the settings but made AA transpercey supersampling 4x, Antistropic filitering 6x, AA settings - 4x and didnt get an FPS hit or a difference in the sim :( Anyways, Ill probably upgrade my GPU at the end of the year :)
