FS Captain

Do Embraers E170 and E190 have dedicated interfaces to use with your program?
Not yet. I have the 135/145 and the 175/195 as well as the Phenom 100.Now those three packages are coded close enough that the interfaces are fairly similar. If there's an FS Captain user with the 170s/190s who could post me the entire LVAR list (made using LINDA, perhaps) and would be willing to blind test an interface -- as long as the 170s/190s are close enough too -- I'd take a stab at making one.
I am a happy fs passenger user, but after reading all the glowing reviews, can't resist the temptation of giving this a go. But before I get onto downloading the demo, I have a question. I do almost all my flights on a multiplayer server where you follow a predefined hoplist. Does Fscaptain cater for users choosing their own routes every time?
FS Captain is very free form, but could you elaborate on what you mean by a "predefined hoplist?"Essentially you can use FS Captain to set up a "hub system" of airports and it can generate a schedule that you can edit. Or you can import TT Tools-like schedules. Or you can ask FS Captain's dispatch to generate random "charter" flights... or you can tell dispatch that you want to fly a specific aircraft type from AAAA to BBBB.As for the route that you take to get to where you're going, you can choose to fly direct, or you can load an MSFS .pln file that will be used to generate your ETE for the flight.

As a very happy FSCaptain customer, I just want to add my two cents to say that this is probably one of the best payware for FS you can buy. It blows FSPax out of the water, in my opinion, and is well updated and very well supported (as you can tell by the developers posting in this thread).

Thanks for elaborating Travis. I should have explained what I meant. I use FSHost multiplayer client. The particular server on FSHost I am flying with gives me the sectors. So you fly from airport A to B, and as you touchdown at the destination, you get instructions to fly to C...then D. Hence I wanted to ensure that FS Captain would add value as a replacement for FSpax if I did not use its flight assignment function and instead chose to fly the sectors assigned by FSHost. PS just realised that you're the developer behind Aivlasoft. Gives me great comfort.Cheers,Sam

Sam,First off, Urs is "the developer" behind AivlaSoft. I only do the tiny bits, such as the flight plan handlers and the METAR decoder. With FS Captain, I'm just possibly the guy yapping in your right ear. :smile:Now as to your multiplayer client description, I'm very sure FS Captain can handle that. You could easily load up at A and open your FS Captain FCOM to key in your destination and type of flight (pax, cargo, ferry). The FCOM would then give you a flight number and manifest. (You could then tinker with the ETE and fuel if you like.)When you land at B and shut down, you'd then enter C as your next destination and get a new flight number and manifest. Repeat until your flying day is through!Of course if you were to know your entire day's route you could enter it into the Administrator as a scheduled multi-leg flight and keep the same flight number, etc. If you wanted extra pressure, you could hardwire any or all of your departure and arrival times on such a trip.Dutch likes to fly multi-leg Piedmont Airline schedules from back in the day. Here's an interesting story he wrote of a busy day about a year ago in the Tinmouse....

Too bad, currently I'm limited to E-170/190 only and may start flying B737 evolution (as they are all BAV planes) when FS2Crew will come out for it. Btw, does anyone fly with FSCaptain and FS2Crew together on one plane? Does FSCaptain provide PAX/Cargo, fuel loaders, GC calc. interface to the supported planes? Thanks,Dirk.

Really appreciate your prompt reply Travis. After briefly trying out the demo and reading through the detailed documentation, I was convinced that within its category like Aivlasoft EFB, this addon was way ahead of anything on the market today. So I couldnt hold off and just got it off simmarket for a bargain price of $27 :Drooling:Thanks again,Sam

Hi Dirk,

Too bad, currently I'm limited to E-170/190 only and may start flying B737 evolution (as they are all BAV planes) when FS2Crew will come out for it. Btw, does anyone fly with FSCaptain and FS2Crew together on one plane? Does FSCaptain provide PAX/Cargo, fuel loaders, GC calc. interface to the supported planes?
We currently have interfaces for the E135, 145, 175, and 195. I suspect an interface for the 170/190 may appear soon, as Travis has experience with the others. But not having an interface doesn't mean you can't fly the airplane with FSCaptain. An interface just adds an extra layer of realism by allowing the program to monitor PAX comfort by knowing the cabin pressure and temperature and some other cabin related things like galley power. If the interface isn't present FSCaptain simply assumes they are managed properly. When an interface appears you can slip it in anytime.Answers to your other questions:1. FSCaptain is compatible with FS2Crew and we have a number of FSCaptains that use both.2. FSCaptain provides randomly generated PAX and/or cargo loads and will load them into the airplane at boarding/loading time.3. The above system can be partially or fully suppressed in favor of a loading system specific to the airplane (e.g. the PMDG NGX.)4. FSCaptain provides a detailed Dispatch Release with all load, route, WX and fuel planing information detailed in a standard format.Hope that helps.Dutch

Thanks, Dutch, I'm heading for Simmarket. Please add E170/190.Meanwhile I'm heading for Simmarket to get it before it's too late. :)Cheers,Dirk.

Are you able to save in-game yet with FSCaptain? I want to decent length flights but I don't want to pause the computer as it may be a matter of days before I get the free time to play FSX again.

The answer is 'not yet'; work has started on FSCaptain 1.4 and the planned enhancements are a save/restore state facility for the FCOM, a separate external FCOM that doesn't have to be installed on a panel, and external objects that will direct the pilot to his/her parking spot, perhaps a 'follow me' vehicle.Dutch
