August 9, 201114 yr There's a few posts on this program. In addition they have their own forum. Check them out.I've been a user since the beginning. Excellent program with good support. There are a few bugs still needing to get squashed for some payware planes, but it adds a dimension to sim flying that is needed IMHO.There are other similar programs available but not as steamlined in a way that allows you to focus on flying rather than the details of running a company. Well worth a look.Randall
August 9, 201114 yr What Randall said.I'm using it for about a year now. I use it on every flight! Before I was using FSPassengers but I like FSCaptain better. And it has support which we can't say for FSPassengers. The website you linked explains it very well, what are the features and things like that. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
August 10, 201114 yr What they both said. FS Captain is a highly flexible add on that gives you the illusion of having an airline career. You get to define nearly all aspects of what that means, whether you want to fly cargo or passengers (or both), in Concordes and jumbos on concrete, Caravans and Skyhawks on the grass, or Beavers and Goose on water. Like most other one-man-band developments, progress comes in fits and starts. But Dutch, the developer, is dedicated and supportive and likes to innovate. For me the kicker was the fully functional trial that works from three PNW-area airports. I could have used it in trial for months, but it was good kit so I bought in.
October 22, 201114 yr Sorry to drag up and old topic but I am seriously contemplating buying this an have a few questions. If I select that I am only certified to fly Prop aircraft will I at some point be promoted up to a jet aircraft like I would in FSP? Also could I create my own airline so I could fly as AA or BA if I wanted to? Also are the payloads flexible, can I add/remove pax or cargo as I wanted? The answers would be very much appreciated as these are things I could do in FSP but would love to be able to do in FsCaptain. Thanks Rich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
October 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Here are a few answers for you.The concept "you can't fly this until you do that" isn't present in FSCaptain, except that in some strict airlines unless you specify that you are pre-certified in a certain type you'll need to pass a check ride before you can fly that type. This is very easy to get around if you want to, just click off that option in the airline's definition. Or fly for one less picky... :)You can certainly create your own airlines and that's commonly done. you aren't limited as to how many airlines you create, but you can only fly for one at a time. You can switch back and forth easily and I sometimes do that.Your payloads (pax and/or cargo) are assigned by your airline, but you as Captain have the final say and as of version 1.3 it's easy to load up what you want in your airplane and tell Dispatch to accept it.Try the demo - it's fully functional, everything is there, it just limits you to KSEA, KPDX, and/or KOLM. The current version is 1.2 but the public beta for 1.3 is going on and appears very stable. Just install 1,2 and then download and install the Fixpack to upgrade to 1.3 if you want to try that. The new version adds teeth to most real-world weather hazards that FS9/X didn't. No longer can pilots blithely ignore thunderstorms or icing or slick runways...unless you choose to turn off those options.Dutch Charles "Dutch" Owen - Developer at Military Visualizations - currently working on the C310R and SR-71A project for MSFS.
October 30, 201114 yr Thanks a lot for the reply Dutch. Sounds really good and I will be trying the demo asap. CheersRich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
October 31, 201114 yr hi,Fs captain is an excellent software. It adds reality to your flying. You have a goal and have to fly professionally. Yo can select the difficulty level though. The support is excellent and the product is always improving with new functionalities. I've been using it since its release in 2009. Highly recommended. October 31, 201114 yr Commercial Member Rich,I see you are a FeelThere ERJ pilot. We've just added an FSCaptain interface for those airplanes for maximum compatibility and it will be in the next refresh of the 1.3 beta, expected today or tomorrow.FSCaptain will work with any airplane, but complex add-on panels sometimes skirt the standard FS signals for maximum realism. We're in the process of adding interfaces to every add-on we can so that we capture all the panel data necessary for FSCaptain to know what's going on in the passenger cabin and cockpit environment. The PMDG NGX 737, iFly 737, Leonardo Maddog, POSKY 777, Feelthere ERJs, and SkySim DC-9 have interfaces in the current beta and many more are planned before the official release.Dutch Charles "Dutch" Owen - Developer at Military Visualizations - currently working on the C310R and SR-71A project for MSFS.
October 31, 201114 yr Thanks for the replies guys and Dutch that is great to hear about the addons being made "compatible". Looks like I will be the newest FsCaptain pilot as soon as I get my new system up and running with all my software and add ons.Thank youRich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
October 31, 201114 yr I'm also trying out the demo (for which I SERIOUSLY THANK the developer for making available). The manuals (IMHO) rank amoung some of the very best I've ever seen for ANY FS addon, and I have many! November 1, 201114 yr I echo the accolades for FSCaptain. I've been using the program for a little while now, and it just keeps on getting better and better. By the way, with the latest beta, I've been doing Angel flights using my GA aircraft, delivering organs for transplant around the Pacific Northwest.Lots of fun, and really adds to the suspension of disbelief. December 30, 201114 yr The PMDG NGX 737, iFly 737, Leonardo Maddog, POSKY 777, Feelthere ERJs, and SkySim DC-9 have interfaces in the current beta and many more are planned before the official release.DutchDo Embraers E170 and E190 have dedicated interfaces to use with your program? Thanks,Dirk.
December 30, 201114 yr I am a happy fs passenger user, but after reading all the glowing reviews, can't resist the temptation of giving this a go. But before I get onto downloading the demo, I have a question. I do almost all my flights on a multiplayer server where you follow a predefined hoplist. Does Fscaptain cater for users choosing their own routes every time? Thanks, Sam
