My performance is horrible, I need help.

C402; Well on my old rig, I could make the pmdg 747 run maxed with airports and stuff and ai, all on FS9. It ran at 20 FPS but it was very smooth, I was happy with it. In this case, not only am I getting an abysmal framerate, but also I feel like I'm playing crysis with a 9800GX2: It's a slideshow. My Nvidia Inspector setting are the same, besides that I use no gamma correction, 8x Supersampling and multi display perf. Tried Affinity Mask 255, not sure if I see a difference. Yup yup, and yup! Oh man.. It is not in my case, the 747 runs at 30-40 FPS with autogen maxed and kicks up to 50-60 if I turn it off. Twas fun for a while but then I decided ENB wasn't worth it and sacrificed it for autogen and water details. I also recently turned off AC_Self Shadow because it's terrible and blocky..
Blidariu. I can only convey to you what worked for me. 1) Backup and delete your FSX .cfg file, restart FSX to rebuild new one and restart your computer. 2) Edit .cfg to *******'s tweaks 3) Set up your GTX580 in the Nvidia inspector following Ryan's 8xSQ guide "exactly" (No variances) Now work from there. If you want great performance in large centres, then you are going to have to make some compromises (For instance, do you really need water wave animation if you are not flying VFR in a Piper Cub?) The need for compromise comes with FSX "not" PMDG.Finally, i notice you are quoting a lot of high frame rates on other aircraft. Are you not using a FPS limiter?Regards,

Just out of curiosity, how many monitors are you using for fsx? Something is definitely screwy, I have the same cpu @ 4.3 & get much better performance with high settings & tons of addon scenery.40-60 when using one monitor anyway. With 3 monitors set up using Nvidia surround & a 4th touchscreen monitor running FSC & an undocked cdu I get 14-30. All I have are the standard tweaks, venetubo, highmemfix & the 8xs inspector settings.

One monitor 1680x1050x32 So I did flight test with the new hot fix... here are the wacky results: Starting the plane cold and dark - FPS shoots up to 30-40 - Stays there until the IRS aligns then plummets to 15 -19 for a few minutes (until I start moving). Following that, they skyrocket to 25-40. They jump a lot, very unstable reading. When I use the mouse - I lose 10 frakkin' FPS O_o Then after landing, I shut off sim and it locks up, forcing me to use task manager to close. The hotfix seems to "up" the performance a little, but really it is unstable. Also I notice that I finally see T/C instead of T/D and T/C now, good job PMDG :(. However this plane has performance issues.. all of which dearly hope will be solved in the upcoming update. HT didn't make any difference, 1) Backup and delete your FSX .cfg file, restart FSX to rebuild new one and restart your computer. - Check2) Edit .cfg to *******'s tweaks - Check3) Set up your GTX580 in the Nvidia inspector following Ryan's 8xSQ guide "exactly" (No variances) - Check Yes I am using a limiter, but only when flying and not testing for performance. The 747 sticks to 40 pretty much, like it's superglued much.

Why wouldn't you test under the conditions you intend to fly. Just curious.

Ummm your not in DX-10 Mode I hope? If you are disable it and use DX9. The other thing I found out is FSX Acceleration sucks! LOL I learned that a long time ago. Best setup for FSX is just SP1 and SP2 installed with no acceleration. Will save you a lot of headaches. Also why lock your FPS with that setup? Set it to Unlimited.

It is a fact that setting FPS to unlimited in FSX and externally limiting to for instance 30FPS produces smoother simulation.

I do test under that too, but with the 747, i'll only get 40, with would mean the roof in my case, I always want to know how high it can go. "Ummm your not in DX-10 Mode I hope? Blidariu. Why don't you just submit a ticket. It will probably be Ryan who Answers and i know he will help you all he can to get things sorted. That is what i did and i got a surprisingly fast reply.Regards,

Will do, but only after the service pack gets released. I still have hope.

...Isn't it weird that if I load the 747, then the NGX, her frames will go higher than those of the 747?
I really really think you should post this in a separate thread to bring this to the attention of others, I have been getting sporadic fps High then low etc etc, I tried this out just in the free flight screen,I loaded the 747 then just switched to the NGX and the difference's is incredible, one thing I noticed about the ngx is when you load it in the free flight screen you don't get that pop up of it saying its loading the airac cycles, Im not sure if its an issue or done by design, but people should try this out even if you don't have the 747 load another pmdg ac in the free flight screen then the ngx.

Sure I will, however, wanna laugh? I saw this thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/342403-ngx-on-i7-2600k/ Oh, so you're getting 40 FPS in Koln? eh... Lets load up the NGX in Frankfurt.... 50 FPS without mouse control... 30-40 with mouse visible. Smooth as silk. WHAAAT. Does this really mean that Seattle is a bigger FPS hole than New-York? Incredible. Also, very very weird that the NGX is so vulnerable to the area it is. With the 747-400, you're going to get a mostly "stable" FPS ratio... By that I mean that pref won't go too low or too high... weird..

i have a system way under yours and get good Performance with the NGX. (Q6600 overclocked at 3.0 ghz, 8800GTX and 8 gig of Ram.) I use the ENB Mod, Nhancer, GEX, REX, UTX, FS GLOBAL 2010. Going to be upgrading to a Sandy Bridge soon. But the point is if I can get smooth FPS with this old rig you should be able to with your overclocked Sandy Bridge 2600k.

Ioan,What video card did you switch from to the 570? Was it installed in the system prior or is this a completely brand new system? When I switched from 260 to 570 I had to reformat (don't ask me why) until my performance was what it should have been.
