August 11, 201114 yr Hi everyone, I'm having a hard time enjoying the NGX, mainly because it kills fps so much on my new overkill rig. You see, I have a 2600k overclocked to 4.4 Ghz, 8GB DDR3 RAM with 9-9-9-24 timings, and a sparking new GTX 580 who makes Crysis - literally fly. Now I know that FSX and Crysis are apples and oranges... But... I have all my settings maxed out, besides light bloom, water, SFX and traffic. I use Low 2X water and no traffic / SFX. Everything else is maxed out. With my PMDG 747-400X, in New York, looking straight in Manhattan, I get 40 FPS constant. With my MD-11, I get 45 to 50 there... Now with the NGX I get less than half than the 747, meaning some 15- 19 FPS. What is going on? ...Isn't it weird that if I load the 747, then the NGX, her frames will go higher than those of the 747? I have all tweaks already applied and I'm not reducing any setting. Because I had to sacrifice ENB for autogen and water. My sim crashed otherwise. Help!
August 11, 201114 yr Read the the NGX intro PDF to optimize setup. Move back sliders or lower screen resolution. 1920x1080 resolution with full sliders and bloom requires the IBM Watson Supercomputer, that's in the fine print. Regards,Bob Quick

I believe you should have your res set to your monitors native res. i.e. same as desktop. Rick Hobbs
August 11, 201114 yr Author Okay, so. I'm sorry for not mentioning that I've read the intro. I removed all of my Autogen = 0% performance difference. I do fly on my native resolution. I'm not using bloom.
August 11, 201114 yr Hi Ioan, I have a system similar, but only overclocked to 3,80 with the profile of the XMP´s memory, and the performance is really good. In Seattle , in VC with dense clouds, autogen normal , scenery very dense and 1920X1200X32, fps 28-55, on the ground (runway34R). In the air (10000 feets and up) the fps go to 100 plus.I sent the fsx.cfg to http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html, and everything looks superb. Regards. Miquel Egea.

Really don't understand what's up. Do I have to turn off Hyper threading or what? :(
August 11, 201114 yr switching off 'high resolution cockpit' helps? cloud draw distance set to a reasonable level? autogen set to the penultimate setting? AA is off/on in FSX or done by gfx card? tried a defrag of your HD? Antoine v Heck --- Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM@1600 Mhz, RTX3090 (24GB VRAM). 2TB SSD - VR with Quest 2 via link cable
August 11, 201114 yr My CFG is out of that site! Really don't understand what's up. Do I have to turn off Hyper threading or what? I turned off HT awhile ago, it made fsx really jerky to fly, give it a shot with it off(change your afinity mask to 14 in your fsx cfg file afterwards), it might not increase your fps but it may smooth things out.

August 11, 201114 yr I do not get it!!! This fixation with FPS, it's weird! I rate FSX on how smooth it is, not by how much my FPS is at stages of flight. 20FPS sounds pretty sweet to me! FRED

FREDnormally i'd agree but he mentions 15-19 which is getting uncomforatble. and certainly with those specs you will be annoyed that there must be a reason for it not to behave better then that. Not an expert on this so hopefully someone smarter than me will help, but one thing i have read is that reducing or eliminating autogen can actually be counter productive. If you read the specs in my sig, you can see that i am not that different from you and my graphics card is actually below yours. Yet i am just about where i want to be with my set up. Along with reading posts by others (be carefull of some of the advice there), i submitted a ticket and Ryan answered with some help. With a bit of experimenting and 'some' compromises and advise of people here, you will get it right in the end.By the way, have you read the thread by Ryan on the Nvidia config. guide in the PMDG general forum and used the tweaks recommened there?Regards, Rick Hobbs
August 11, 201114 yr Author C402; Well on my old rig, I could make the pmdg 747 run maxed with airports and stuff and ai, all on FS9. It ran at 20 FPS but it was very smooth, I was happy with it. In this case, not only am I getting an abysmal framerate, but also I feel like I'm playing crysis with a 9800GX2: It's a slideshow. My Nvidia Inspector setting are the same, besides that I use no gamma correction, 8x Supersampling and multi display perf. Tried Affinity Mask 255, not sure if I see a difference. Oh man.. It is not in my case, the 747 runs at 30-40 FPS with autogen maxed and kicks up to 50-60 if I turn it off. Twas fun for a while but then I decided ENB wasn't worth it and sacrificed it for autogen and water details. I also recently turned off AC_Self Shadow because it's terrible and blocky..
August 11, 201114 yr As I said try turning off HT and use an Affinity Mask 14 and see if its smoother
